"Welcome! Table for 2?" Nicole asked with a polite smile.

"Yes, please, dear." The elder man said.

"Right this way." Nicole led them to a small table with two chairs.

"Here are your menus. Can I get you some water to start?"

"We'd love some." The woman said.

"I'll be right back." She said before walking off.

"She... looks familiar, doesn't she?" The man asked his wife.

"Too familiar..." the woman agreed.

After a bit, Nicole came back with two glasses of water. "Are you ready to order?"

"Excuse me, young lady. If you don't mind us asking, could we have your name?" The lady asked.

"Sure. It's Nicole Anderson."

They eyed each other.

"Was that his name?" The man asked quietly.

"I'm not sure." The wife replied before looking back at Nicole. "Sorry, hun. You just look really familiar."

"Oh, I don't know you guys. Sorry."

"Well, you see, you look very much like our son." The woman explained.

"I look like a boy..?" Nicole frowned.

"No! No! That is not what I meant!" The woman quickly said. "Here this will explain it." She pulled out her phone and showed her a picture of a teenage Noah.

Nicole looked at it. "Oh, that looks like my dad!"

The couple looked at each other and the woman nodded.

Nicole looked up from the picture to the woman then looked at the man. "Woah... are you guys..."

"You look just like him..." the woman said before sighing. "Is he doing all right?"

"Yeah! My parents are both very happy!" She let them know.

"Who's your mother?" The man asked before his wife made a face to stop him.

"Oh, I don't have a mom. I have 2 dads." She explained.

"After all this time..." the woman said. "But you said they're both happy, right? We're such fools."

"Don't say that." The man shook his head.

"Wait, so, are you guys really my grandparents?"

The man nodded and the woman stared at her before standing up.

"You're a beautiful, well-mannered, young lady..."

Nicole smiled. "Thank you!"

"I wish we could have seen you grow. But I don't think your father has any interest in seeing us again..." the woman said.

"Why not?" Nicole wondered.

"Did he not tell you anything about us?" Her grandfather asked.

"He just told me he doesn't talk to his family, but he never told me why."

"Nothing at all?" Her grandmother wondered.

Nicole shook her head. "I used to beg him to tell me something. Anything. But he refused. I can't understand why. You guys are great!"

The woman smiled a bit. "Even after we stopped talking, he didn't want you to have a negative image of us. That boy..."

"Oh, yeah! My dad is really considerate! He always puts everyone else first! Even on his birthday, he ordered strawberry cake because it's Cody's favourite! And one weekend there was this terrible storm so i was stuck on campus, but he drove all the way out just to pick me up so we can spend the weekend together!" Nicole told them with a smile on her face.
