Just what am I doing with my life?

Every single minute felt like years, stretching out to confuse my mind. I knew that I looked terrible, from the pale pallor of my skin and the occasional glimpses I caught of my eyes from nearby mirrors.

I was dirty, I looked awful, and my mental health was even more messed up. I was a complete train wreck. I didn't understand how Fang could even be around me at this point. I couldn't say a word without breaking down. His patience with me is long lasting, and I am forever grateful to him for that.

Next to me, Fang had his eyes closed and he was leaning against the wall, unconsciously caressing his elbow, even in sleep. I sighed, and then leaned my head back too, but whenever I closed my eyes, I saw horrific images there.

My eyes snapped open and a cold sweat coated my neck. I lifted shaking hands to wipe it away when suddenly, I heard Rattlesnake yell from somewhere down the hall. "Idiot!"

I wanted to curl up at the sound of his voice, but I forced myself to stand up and then walk over to the door to hear what was going on. If this concerned me and my survival, I had to know what was happening.

"Why?!" The question that sounded more like a demand was loud, and it still came from Rattlesnake. I peeked in from the window and then saw Rattlesnake pacing around Morro. Morro's hair was mussed up, as if he had been dragged here against his will.

I pushed down the boiling rage in my blood and then kept on watching.

"I never wanted to do this." Morro glared fire into Rattlesnake's eyes. "Come on, old man. You wanted revenge on this world, you wanted everyone to suffer and go through the pain of your old plans, but I don't. I was done the moment I died as a ghost."

"You do want revenge." Rattlesnake scoffed, "You're just too weak to admit it now. But as the plan continues, when you see the final project, then you'll come to your senses. You'll realize that revenge is on your agenda after all."

"No, it isn't!" Morro yelled, his hair floating off his shoulders as wind whipped around him, "I've seen what happens for us to achieve what we have now. I've been thinking about this ever since I was resurrected. I don't want part of this lunacy, this crap. I don't want to be a part of this project!"

Rattlesnake was silent for a long time. When he finally spoke, he whispered, "How. Dare. You?"

"Making yourself the victim again, I see." Morro scoffed.

"This project could be everything for us." Rattlesnake glared at Morro, "Vengeance is on the list, whether or not you like it. So suck it up, quit complaining, and just do your job like you're supposed to, Morro."

"I don't have to stay here." Morro snarled.

He... doesn't? I peeked out the window. I thought he was here... because he wanted to be here. I thought he was here because he wanted revenge. But from what he just displayed... I guess not?

Geez, you're stupid. A voice in my head chortled and I wanted to slap myself.

"And what will you do if you don't stay here, huh? Where are you gonna go? To Ninjago? To buy an apartment or something?" Rattlesnake scoffed, "No one is going to take you in, Morro. Absolutely no one. Do you understand me?"

"I'll find a place out of here." Morro snarled, "I'll find a way out of here."

"No, you won't." Suddenly, Rattlesnake grabbed Morro's neck and then pushed him against the wall, his face a mask of hatred and anger. "You will stay here. Do you hear me, boy?"

"Let go of me." Morro's voice was utterly calm. "Now."

"If you leave," Rattlesnake snarled, "do you know what I'm going to do?"

"Don't know, and don't give a crap." Morro responded.

Rattlesnake's grip tightened just a bit on Morro's neck and Morro flinched just a bit, but he didn't say anything. Rattlesnake grinned evilly, "That weak damsel girlfriend of yours is dead, do you hear me? Dead if you leave."

"Don't touch her!" Morro's eyes glowed green and violent winds whipped around his form. "Touch her, and I will murder you. Do you understand me?"

"You forget I'm a ghost." Rattlesnake grinned, "Ghosts can't be murdered, boy."

"Don't you even think of touching her." Morro glared down at Rattlesnake, "If you touch her, I will make you know just the word 'pain' means."

"Pfft, as if you can harm me." Rattlesnake whipped around and then threw Morro to the ground. Morro picked himself up onto his elbows and glared up at Rattlesnake, defiant all the way.

Why is he so worried about me? I thought, I'm just a tool to him... aren't I?

"You're a foolish, foolish boy." Rattlesnake shook his head, "You let your feelings get in the way. How can you fall for a Garmadon just like that?" He snapped his fingers for effect.

"I'm not." Morro snarled, but everything about him said otherwise.

"Oh, don't lie." Rattlesnake crooned.

"Leave me alone." Morro stood up now, brushing aside one strand of stray hair. "Please." Morro's voice broke just slightly, and I felt my heart crack just a bit at that, too.

"Oh, fine, fine, fine." Rattlesnake said, but he was still grinning. "I'll leave you be. Maybe you're going to go visit your lover?" Rattlesnake turned his gaze towards the door and I quickly ducked before I was spotted spying.

I bit my lip to prevent making a sound and I heard footsteps near, but then the footsteps passed.

"Wait for me, boy!" I heard Rattlesnake shout.

"No." Morro called back.

My hands were shaking as I lifted them to examine. Morro didn't want to hurt me. Maybe that's just an act. But everything... Everything seemed pretty real to me.

"Does he actually not want to hurt me?" I whispered out loud.

But no one answered.
