"Just visualise where you want to go, chuck the stone against a wall or something and the portal should appear." Milo said as he handed her two stones. "One for the way there and one for the way back."
"Just make sure to be back by next Saturday we have that family holiday to Italy booked." Buffy reminded her.
"Alright. That gives me five days." She muttered, "who knows maybe he won't want to see me and I'll be back by the evening."
"Stop overthinking." Dawn said, she walked up to Melanie and gave her a hug. "Just go."
Melanie took a deep breath and visualised the Burrow, at that moment she was incredibly grateful to Fred that he drew it for her. "Ottery St Catchpole, The Burrow." She whispered to herself and threw the rock against the wall. An orange portal opened and she took a step through it.
When she emerged on the other side she found herself surrounded by trees. She looked around but didn't see any house around. It was the early hours of the morning and there were no people around. After some time Melanie found a dirt path and since she had no other ideas she decided to follow it.
After about 20 minutes she saw smoke coming up from the trees. She sped up the pace and soon the house from Fred's sketch appeared. The chimney was a bit wonky and the roof just as red as Fred's hair.
She walked up to the front door, lifted her hand up and hesitated. She was about to just invade Fred's home like it was nothing, no prior warning, no consideration for his parents and not to mention she didn't know if Fred wanted to see her. She would expect him to be angry. She was just about to take a step back when she heard rummaging behind the door.
"I'll just go get some eggs before the kids wake up dear." Exclaimed a middle aged looking witch. She was about 5foot tall had red hair and bright brown eyes. She was wearing an orange dress with her sleeves rolled up to her elbows and a light pink apron. "Oh Hello, can I help you with anything?"
Melanie opened her mouth but no words came out. She was completely thrown off by her sudden appearance. She swallowed some saliva and licked her lips nervously before finally speaking. "Yes m'am, I'm sorry I should have knocked, I was wondering if this is the Weasley residence?"
"Residence. Well I don't know if you can call it that but it's home. I'm Molly Weasley." She replied and sent a warm smile towards Melanie.
"I'm sorry, im just a little flustered. I'm Melanie Black."
"Melanie.." She repeated as she examined the girls face. She started smiling widely as she said "of course, Melanie, Fred has told us so much about you. It's a pleasure to meet you my dear." She exclaimed and without hesitation enveloped her in a hug. "Please come in, the children are still asleep but I'll wake them up in a second,I was just going to pop out to get some eggs."
"Oh May I help you?" Melanie offered.
"Don't be silly dear. I'll be right back just come in, my husband Arthur is in there." She turned back around and opened the front door. "Arthur! Make some space on the table we have a guest!" She said eagerly and walked Melanie into the house.
She dropped her bag down by the entrance and was immediately approached by a tall ginger wizard with blue eyes. He extended his arm out, "Arthur Weasley."
"Melanie Black it's a pleasure to meet you sir." She smiled at him, slowly feeling the tension leave her body.
"This is Freddie's girlfriend." Mrs Weasley said happily. "Don't just stand there Arthur make some tea." She added before disappearing behind the door.
"Yes dear." He replied and started rummaging around the kitchen.
Melanie was sitting at the table drinking her tea while Mr Weasley asked her questions about her thoughts on the upcoming Quidditch Cup. Mrs Weasley was everywhere at once preparing breakfast for her family.
