Fire // Fred Weasley

Chapter 53

After the game Melanie was going to wait by the staircase to try and find Fred. However, the Minister pulled her away for a more in depth chat. After what felt like hours he finally allowed her to go enjoy the festivities.

Melanie had to go back to her tent first to make sure Buffy and Milo were settled in fine. Upon her arrival she was surprised to see only Buffy made it back to the tent.

"Where's Milo?"

"Oh he met up with that Charlie guy and went for something that's called a Butterbeer." Buffy responded. "Also, that gorgeous Cedric boy came looking for you. But since you weren't here he said he'd come back later."

"Oh right okay. Anyway, do you want to come with me to see the Weasleys? I'd like for you to meet Fred officially."

"Sure. But can we get that butterbeer on the way, I'm really curious."

Melanie chuckled. "Of course."

"340, 341. I think it's that one on the far left." Melanie exclaimed as she and Buffy made their way through the tents.

Suddenly a loud bang filled the air and the sky ignited orange. From a distance people started to scream. Melanie and Buffy froze at the sound of terror erupting around them. The screams grew more prominent and flames started to engulf the tents around them. Witches and wizards started fleeing their tents in a state of panic. Melanie's eyes turned red as her and Buffy stepped closer to each other. The fires erupting all around them.

"Mel we have to run!" Buffy shouted amidst being shoved around by random wizards.

Melanie's breath quickened. She frantically looked around and saw the Weasleys emerge from their tent.

She heard Arthur shout something to Fred and George as Harry and Hermione ran out of the tent.

For a split second she caught Fred's gaze. She wanted to run to him, but when she saw Ginny clutching onto his side, fear painted all over her face Melanie knew that his sister had to be his first priority.

"Melanie please!" Buffy screamed as she tried tugging on Melanie's jacket. But her gaze was still on Fred.

Fred's heart was pounding from what was happening around him. There was terror everywhere. When he locked eyes with Melanie he wanted nothing more than to rush towards her.

"Summers!" A voice called from the side.

Melanie turned her gaze and saw Cedric running straight towards her and Buffy.

He ran straight up to her and grabbed her hand firmly, not slowing down.

"Come on Summers! We have to get to safety!" He shouted pulling Melanie back.

She clenched her jaw, and reluctantly let Cedric drag her and Buffy away.

The three of them ran through the burning camping ground, pushing past witches and wizards, with Melanie diverting the fire away as much as she could.

They finally slowed down when they got to the edge of the forest.

"Dad!" Cedric shouted as they approached Amos.

"Thank Merlin you're okay." He remarked and hugged Cedric tightly. "Go, apparate back home. Take Melanie and her friend with you. It's not safe."

Cedric nodded and grabbed Buffys arm. With a quick but painful swish the three of them landed in front of Cedric's family home.

Melanie groaned as she hit the ground. But she instantly got up and rushed to Buffy who was throwing up not far from her.

"I'm sorry, I just passed my test not long ago. This was my first time taking other people with me, and it was a long journey and to be honest my first time properly apparating on my own we took a portkey here." Cedric said panicked as he helped Buffy up.
