AUTHOR'S POV-
After the embarrassing moment, Sarakshi tried to engage herself in work but she could not. Her face was a shade of bright red, and her lips were a bit swollen as she continuously bit her lips.
For the first time in her life, she was not enjoying baking. She kept thinking about what happened earlier, and she found herself glancing toward the office, regretting her actions. She shut her eyes close but opened them as soon as the scene again started playing in her head.
Meanwhile, Rashvik got busy with his work, determined to finish what he had started. Despite his best efforts, he couldn't stop smiling as he remembered her reaction. The whole scenario kept replaying in his mind, and for the first time, he was laughing because of her and not because of his brothers.
He occasionally glanced toward the hall, hoping to catch a glimpse of her, but Sarakshi stayed firmly in the kitchen, too embarrassed to come out.
One positive outcome of the incident was that Rashvik's suspicion didn't come true. At least now he knew that Sarakshi had been genuine, not faking anything. However, he still wasn't entirely sure about her; a part of him couldn't fully trust her. This distrust bothered him, but he couldn't help feeling suspicious about her intentions.
As he worked, these conflicting thoughts swirled in his mind. He wanted to believe in her sincerity, but something held him back. Despite the laughter and the amusing memory of her reaction, there was an undercurrent of doubt that he couldn't shake.
Rashvik's lingering doubts and Sarakshi's self-consciousness created a tension that neither of them could ignore.
Now the main question was how Sarakshi was going to call him for lunch. Now that she knew he was home, she had to ask him, or she would look rude...at least that's what she thought.
"Bhagwan, kuch aisa karo ki inko office ka call aaye aur yeh chale jaye, please. Ek baar mera saath de do, please. Maine kya bigada hai aapka, please na" she murmured.
(Please do something, God, so he receives an office call and leaves. Please stand by me once, what have I done wrong to you, please.)
"Oh! Wait, I guess he'll refuse to have lunch with me. I'm sure he will. Waise bhi, vo mujhe pasand nahi karte, toh vo mana hi kardenge. Yes, Sarakshi, yes, it's your duty to ask him. So go and ask, and he'll refuse to have lunch with you. Go for it" she murmured again after thinking for a bit.
She was going insane. She didn't want to face him, and she wasn't courageous enough to do so after everything that had happened.
She took slow steps toward the office, stopping now and then to take deep breaths and encourage herself, continuously chanting, "You can do it." She clutched the fabric of her clothes tightly and finally stood a step away from the office.
With her heart pounding, she hesitated, her hand hovering just inches from the door. Summoning every ounce of courage she had, she took one last deep breath and gently knocked on the door.
"Mr-Mr. Singh, lu-lunch is ready" she said in a very low voice, which Rashvik heard but still wanted to hear properly.
"What did you say?" he asked, not looking up and focusing on his work.
"Lunch is ready" she repeated, a little louder, looking down.
"Hm, I'll come in a few minutes" he replied. Sarakshi shot him a glare, which he didn't see, and she instantly went to the kitchen.
'Kaha fas gayi mai? Maine kyu pucha?' she thought, banging her head lightly on the refrigerator. (Where have I gotten myself stuck? Why did I ask?)
