I watched as her face changed.
Drained.
As the panic set in.
I watched the look in her eyes, the sudden glow she momentarily got back, vanish.
She knew.
She knew everything was about to change.
That everything we knew, was going to be stripped from us.
I didn't even get to warn her about the worst of it yet.
"Matt, what's happening? What do you mean?!" She whispered, trying to grab onto me.
I knew she knew, her shields were still open, she was panicking.
It killed me.
"Just promise me," I whispered back, standing and pulling her into arms, "promise me you will stay hidden, away from me, promise me you will keep your shields up at all times, please yn, promise me!"
I squeezed her as tight as I could.
I didn't know if I would get to again.
" I will keep my Shields up, I promise." She whispered, hugging me back.
I knew she wasn't going to make it easy, and she always had a way of avoiding topics, but I would do everything I could to get this through her head.
She could be no where near me.
Near him.
Near her mother.
"Yn," I started, but she pulled away from me, and looked straight up at me.
A fire burning in her eyes.
"This isn't just about you or me, and you know that Mattheo. I'll hide if I see it fit, but I'm not leaving any of you out there on your own." She spat, "so I'm sorry I can't promise you that, but I do promise I will be careful, and I will keep my shields up."
I seen it in her eyes she meant it.
The reality slowing sinking in.
Why I loved her so fucking much.
She didn't hide, she didn't back down.
In front of me stood a girl, who has had everything ripped from her, time and time again. And each time, she stood up and took it.
She wasn't going to hide.
I was stupid for ever thinking she would.
I cupped her face in my hands, I wanted to stay here forever.
In this tiny room.
I couldn't help but smile at her.
I've never met anyone stronger.
I don't think I would ever.
"I love you, yn, And I'm sorry for all the time we've lost these past months, you never left my head, all the years we spent together, even just as kids-" I kissed her forehead, "you are the reason I even have something to fight for, please be careful."
She needed to hear it.
I didn't care if I sounded soft, or stupid, she needed to hear me say it.
If this was our last moment of peace, our last moment together.
At least she would know that.
"This isn't a goodbye, Mattheo Riddle." She whispered, her eyes never leaving mine, "you tell me how much you love me, after all of this, but you will not say goodbye to me. You didn't put me through hell, not to be happy at this end of this."
