Opal's pov
"WELL I CAME HERE TO give you scones and an invitation to my wedding, I didn't think you'd have me helping you make a dress for the occasion." I laughed collecting silk from her storage box.
Jillian chuckled. "Smart mouth just like ya' father, oh how he would have a time bullying me with you here." She shook her head sewing the silk together.
"Bullying? I'd say having a laugh!" I squinted my eyes playfully.
"That's excuses coming from a guilty person!" She hummed. "If you'd be a dear and hand me a scone, I'm feeling quite peckish." She stopped sowing.
I nodded, grabbing one for her and one of my own. "It feels so nice to talk to you after the last time we ran into each other, I felt like I never really gotten much time to speak with you." I frowned. I look at the gray in her long hair, I wished I could've seen her at her prime.
"Yes yes, in such circumstances we were in." Jillian took a bite of her scone and I followed suit.
"Well my grandchild is getting married, have you thought of having any children?" The question makes me choke on a crumb. "I don't believe I'm a male birther, Jillian."
"Is that right? I suppose I'll have to ask a few magic users to perform a fertility spell on you." She snickers but I only laugh nervously.
After we finish eating all of the scones Odie fixes us some tea and I'm back to helping her with her dress. "Deary, won't you go and pick a few flowers, I'd like petals on this dress."
I nod, dusting my behind off as I make my way outside. I grab maybe, seven flowers, I go to grab one more and the breaking of a branch startled me, I look to the left of me to see a tall man standing, he had auburn colored skin, black thigh length hair and big dark eyes. He looked like... me.
His eyes widened as he looked at me, his demeanor crumbles and he starts shaking, long wings sported from his back, they looked used but strong.
I open my mouth but all came out was blabber, then a gut wrenching scream.
Jillian ran out the cottage and so did Odie, her crow followed both of them. "Oh... oh..." she brought her hands to her quivering mouth.
I watched her run to him, arms open and a sob wracked from within her. I bit my finger trying to stop my own tears.
"Mother..." his voice was weak, full of longing.
"Caiel. My— my beautiful son." She grabbed the sleeves of his shirt sliding down to the ground, gripping his leg she broke into a deep sob.
