The physician returned the next morning to see how Luna was doing. When he spoke with Luna alone that morning, he informed her that the bleeding was normal and that she was expecting a child. She presented the doctor with a bewildered and shocked expression. The doctor said,
"Do you want to tell the young man?" Luna uttered,
"No, no." I'll tell him personally. I appreciate you informing me.
"Everything seems to be just fine, but she would like to see you," the doctor said, glancing at Red as he left the room.
As soon as Red walked into the room, Luna sent him a smile and rushed to sit next to her on the bed. She gave him a quick glance and smiled back, then
Red asked, "Did the doctor tell you something about what is going on with you that he didn't tell me?"
She began to speak and said, "Red, I am pregnant."
"Luna, this is fantastic news," he replied with a gleaming smile.
That she was as excited as he was pleased.
Luna grew more and sicker over the next several days. Throughout, Red would be by her side, getting her things and assisting with her recovery. To help her sleep better, he would also always lie down next to her in bed.
