since she was a young child were gone from the ancient cabin. She turned to face Red, who caused her eyes to well up with tears. She said softly,
"I...can still feel them here still. If I could give my mother and sisters a hug once more..."
"I know my love," Red murmured, shaking his head. "It would have been nice to meet them.
Luna strolled about the cabin, pointing out locations where objects should have been and where her mother should have been when cooking or relaxing in her chair and crying more. Luna sobbed more when Red took her hand and led her up the stairs, where her parents' beds once stood. She began to consider what had been spoken at Rocky's cabin that evening. Then she began to think, I hope she didn't go through too much suffering.
"Would you like to see where Zach and I put them to rest?" Red inquired, glancing at Luna.
As the forest became denser, Luna and the infant ventured deeper into it, with Luna covering the infant even more with her blanket. After walking up a short hill, where there were three small crosses, Luna gave Red the baby and went over to where they were standing. There, she kneeled down, began to cry, and spoke to them as though they were still there.
"Rose and I will be near the wagon waiting for you," Red said to Luna.
After spending some time sitting on the ground in front of the tombs, Luna got up, strolled back to the wagon, and approached Red.
"Let's go to the river where we went that day. You caught that fish with your mouth... Do you remember."
