"How could you choose him?"
"Because he was the only person who ever chose me"
Brooke Forbes had lived in Mystic Falls her whole life, and had been the 'It Girl' of the town since she was young. Her life had been perfect in every way. Until, one acc...

The Mikaelson mansion was much more comfortable than Brooke's own house she decided. She loved waking up in a huge King-sized bed with silk bed coverings, and then stepping into a marble-floor bathroom to enjoy a long, hot shower, before going downstairs and being able to enjoy a blood bag with her breakfast without the judging eyes of her mother on her.
The other benefit of course, was that Nik and Kol lived there too.
Kol living there was a constant source of entertainment for Brooke. He spent all of his time either irritating his older brother or drinking, and Brooke was more than glad to sit back and enjoy it with him.
And when Kol often left the house to 'go for a walk' (which was code for stalk Caroline) Klaus had given her full access to the library, and they only made light conversation over breakfast, but somehow just knowing he was walking around the same house made her feel comforted.
Slowly the Mikaelson's house was becoming more of a home to her than her own one.
The eager-to-kill-all-supernatural-beings Hunter being chained up behind the study, however, did not make her feel comforted.
"Remind me why you're keeping him in the house" Brooke said as she entered the back room of the study and came face-to-face with Connor Jordan tied up to a rack, grunting as he tried to get free.
Klaus grinned "Because, love, I need him in one piece and keeping him here is the best way to make sure he stays that way. Don't worry, he won't be here forever"
Brooke raised her eyebrows "What makes you think I will be?"
"Perhaps the fact that you stay here all the time. Especially when I'm around, why is that?" he smirked.
"It's because Kol is here and he's my friend" she replied, aware that she was lying. And judging by the smug grin Klaus gave her, he knew it too.
His face then changed, into one of distaste and without looking away from her he said, "Looks like I'll have to beef up the hybrid security detail" Klaus turned to the side, and confused, Brooke did the same and saw Stefan standing there.
The younger vampire smiled sarcastically at the pair and said, "I was going to take him, but I figured you went through such trouble to truss him up in your red room of pain"
He eyed the contraption with judgement, and Klaus smirked, "It's from the inquisition. I thought it was a nice touch"
"What'd you get out of him?" asked Stefan
Klaus glanced at the Hunter angrily and said, "Not enough. He's mum about the council fire and he's not saying anything about this greater evil we're all supposed to be shivering over. What brings you snooping?"
"Well, I can't say it in front of him." Stefan replied, gesturing to Connor "As I'm sure you've figured out, our friend here can't be compelled"
The hybrid smirked at him sarcastically "You're full of mysteries, aren't you?"
