Klaus and Kol had returned to Mystic Falls early the following morning and instead of heading straight to the Mikaelson's mansion as they normally would, they took a detour to first pay a visit to the Forbes family a visit.
Unfortunately though because neither Caroline nor Brooke had expected them to arrive so early, Liz had been the woman who opened the front door.
"Brooke! Caroline! It's for you!" She shouted over her shoulder, casting the two Mikaelsons a nasty glare.
Confused, Brooke and Caroline poked her heads around the corner from where they had been sitting in the living room, eating breakfast. Brooke's expression lit up when she saw who was standing in the doorway, while Caroline let out a loud sigh. "Hello, sunshine" Klaus grinned, keeping his eyes on Brooke, as he jokingly added "We were just enjoying a nice moment with your mother"
"Who, might I add, is every bit as beautiful as her daughters" said Kol, flashing Liz a charming smile.
Liz pursed her lips at him and before she could say anything else, Brooke hastily approached them. "Um, thanks, mom, we've got it"
"Sure" Liz nodded and she paused next to her daughters. "Next time you two need to see your boyfriends, maybe keep it at their house. I'm not exactly a fan of a homicidal hybrid and vampire in my home"
"He's not my boyfriend" Caroline scowled, glancing over at Kol who was watching her in amusement.
Liz gave her daughters a final firm but amused look and then disappeared into her study, and when the door clicked shut behind her Brooke and Caroline finally turned back to the two Mikaelsons and Brooke opened the front door to let them inside.
"Your mother doesn't like us" Klaus said, mildly amused as he stepped into the Forbes's front hallway.
"I think she enjoyed the peace and quiet in this town over the last few days" Brooke replied "Speaking of, how was Italy?"
"As beautiful as ever. Perhaps next time you should join us and finally take me up on my offer to show you the world" smiled Klaus.
Brooke chuckled, "I may be a vampire but I still doubt my mother would be okay with me disappearing halfway across the world with two men she doesn't trust"
"She has no reason to not trust us" Klaus said, his tone laced with sarcasm.
"It's hard to trust you when you cause problems everywhere you go" Caroline muttered.
"You wound me, darling" Kol grinned. "And here I thought you and I were finally starting to connect"
Caroline scoffed "Seriously? I'm dating Tyler and no amount of pointless flirting will change that"
He hummed in amusement "I seem to remember many nights at the Mystic Grill where you liked my flirting"
