Brooke had successfully dodged Katherine's call at every turn. The older vampire had been calling her non stop for the last day just trying to talk about everything, but after learning that she was threatening her sister, Brooke didn't want to speak.
Instead, she and Caroline had been taking shifts looking after their mother down in the Salvatore cellar.
The twins had just switched over, and as Brooke was coming up through the living room, she came face to face with Alaric, Damon, and Jeremy.
As soon as the three men saw her their conversation fell silent, and Brooke raised her eyebrows expectantly
"It's alright, she knows" Damon told the other two
"What's going on?" she asked as she walked over
Damon gestured to Jeremy, who explained, "Tyler has this moonstone, and we need to find out what it does"
Brooke nodded "Yeah he told me about it. He said Mason's been after it but he didn't know why"
"Your little buddy Katherine was no help?" asked Damon
She scowled at him. "No, shut up."
Damon laughed slightly. "Fine. So without any help, our only option was to use Alaric's ex-wife Isobel's research" He gestured to a box of paper's and files on the table behind them
"Why?"
"My wife was a believer of the supernatural" explained Alaric "So I asked her assistant at the university to send this stuff over"
"Vanessa, the hottie" said Damon, wiggling his eyebrows
Alaric rolled his eyes "Vanessa yes. Do you remember the old Aztecs curse she told us about?"
Damon nodded "Son of the moon, bla bla bla bla"
"What curse?" asked Brooke
Supposedly vampires and werewolves used to run freely until a shaman put a curse on them, limiting their power. Since then, werewolves can only turn on a full moon and vampires are weakened by the sun" he explained
"Most of them anyway" added Damon
Brooke and Jeremy were both confused, so Alaric elaborated "According to the legend, the werewolf part of the curse is sealed with a moonstone
"What do you mean sealed?" asked Jeremy
"It's a witch thing," said Damon "Whatever seals the curse is usually the key onto unsealing the curse"
Alaric nodded "Maybe Mason Lockwood believes he can use the moonstone to break the curse"
"If we start believing in some supernatural witchy mojo legend from a picture book, we're idiots." scoffed Damon "Where is the stone now?"
"Tyler" both Jeremy and Brooke replied in unison
Damon frowned "Can you get it?"
The two youngest parties shared a glance. Brooke and Jeremy were both friends with Tyler, but as far as this whole thing went it was probably easier for Jeremy to get it seeing as Brooke wasn't able to go near Mason anymore.
