The building tension came to a peak when Osanai's attention fell to Takemichi. His stare annoyed him, and Osanai wasted no time getting violent.
Pah-chin ended the one sided fight not long after it started, it was as relieving as it was worrying. And then another fight started, but this time, Takemichi was left out of it. Even Mikey specifically ordered everyone to sit back and watch Pah-chin's fight.
It was like torture, you clenched your fists a bit tighter everytime you saw Pah-chin get hit. Somehow, Mikey was still smiling, even after Pah-chin took a hit straight to the face.
He was right, Pah-chin hasn't given up yet. But that doesn't make anything less frustrating. You'd go as far as saying that it makes things worse.
The worst part of the fight was over, and Mikey finally decided to get involved. He stepped forward and reached out to hold his friend who was about to fall.
"You haven't lost." That was Mikey's reply to Pah-chin's apology. It was also a contradiction towards the current situation.
Mikey's statement brought forth a lot of laughter and mockery from the members of Moebius. Their weird comments gave you the ick, most of them were awfully inappropriate and disgusting.
It doesn't look like Mikey's affected anyhow, his pace was steady as ever when he made his way to Osanai.
You could see the wide eyes and the confusion plastered on the faces of the guys from Moebius. A very "unexpected" kick was brought upon Osanai, hitting him straight in the face and knocking him out. Your eyes widened too of course, but at least you knew this was bound to happen.
Your focus was elsewhere, but Mikey's words were clear. "Toman belongs to me. Anyone who's behind me will never lose."
He looked really cool there for a second, until he apologised to Draken with a silly smile on his face. His smile was insufferably infectious, and so your smile came back to life. It was such a nice moment, especially since Draken was also smiling , that usually made you happy too.
You could see Osanai rapidly approaching Mikey from behind, he was holding a broken bottle in his hand. Draken noticed too, he was faster than you and shielded Mikey from the attack. A swift knee into Osanai's stomach was enough to leave him blacked out.
A long list of lame achievements was listed by Draken. And then, finally, it was declared that Moebius would be affiliated with Toman.
You finally managed to find your way towards Mikey. He seems to be happy since his smile got even brighter when his eyes landed on you. His movements made it obvious that he wanted to stick close to you too.
The sound of police sirens filled your ears, you immediately understood that you had to run. A familiar hand wrapped itself around yours and pulled you to run with him.
Mikey pulled you forward towards one of the exits, until you heard Draken yell at Pah-chin. You stopped and turned around just as Mikey did. You felt his grip tightening as he stared at the scene.
Osanai was on the ground, a knife buried in his back. It's obvious what happened, Pah-chin has stabbed him.
"Sorry Mikey... I'm giving myself up."
The warmth of the hand that was holding yours disappeared in less than a second. Mikey ran towards his friend in a desperate attempt to take him along, only to be stopped by Draken.
Draken, who forcefully dragged Mikey to run along and leave Pah-chin behind, was now also holding your hand. He only noticed you still staring at the scene when the others were already out and running, and there's no way he'd ever leave you behind.
Your mind was racing as fast as you were, it couldn't comprehend why Pah would do that. It's not like you're the only one though, you could hear Peh curse and yell behind you. And the other's facial expressions spoke for themselves.
It was only when Takemichi collapsed that you stopped running. He had taken a few heavy blows, it was no surprise he collapsed.
Mikey was first to notice and first to turn back and help him. He lifted Takemichi on Draken's back, who in return promised to bring him to the hospital.
Silence remained as you watched Draken leave with Takemichi. After Peh and Mikey exchanged some words, he left too. Now it was just you and Mikey.
You felt his gaze on you, you turned to meet it. His eyes are a bit droopy, and he doesn't smile as usual. You want to cheer him up, tell him things will be okay. But how can you do that when you can't even muster up the courage to smile at him. How can you comfort him when you also wish someone would comfort you.
"Can you stay with me for tonight?"
"yes"
You follow his lead and make sure you walk right by his side. Close enough to feel his shoulder brush agaist yours, close enough to hear his breathing and focus on it. This way, slowly but surely, you both make way to the Sano residence.
