"Then I examined my own heart. And there you were. Never to be forgotten."
- Jane Austen

❥❥❥

She was there, right there in front of his eyes, yet felt so far away. Was hating her all this time so worth it, when it could all end in a heartbeat. She clung desperately to a loose branch of a tree that had fallen over, hanging desperately for her life to the deep end, tears streaming down her face as she struggled to climb back up, but the more she tried, the more the branch seemed to be giving way to a state of wreckage.

"Yeonjun please!" She cried, looking up at him, and he felt his his heart drop, watching the gash over her brow.

He snapped out of his feelings and ran over, momentarily forgetting he could fall too. He stretched out his arm for her, struggling to reach her on the far end. Hyun Ae reached out too, her fingers brushing over his, tears streaming down her face and blurring her vision as she tried not to choke on her tears. She was so afraid, so cold, and it hurt so much and yet it was just so much more harder to cling on to life.

After all, everything seemed to unfold in a heartbeat. One second she was baffled and embarrassed, hurt and loathing herself for losing her Yeonjun forever as she took the path towards all loose branch ends and wood for her friends and the next thing she knew it started raining so hard and fast as if the Universe had not tested her enough and only when she was finding her way back and the lightening barely missed her, rocks and debris seemed to move faster and the land seemed to give way. Had it not been for the fallen tree, she wouldn't know what happened, would she? She'd fall, and she would, she'd see what death looks like before her very eyes.

"HyunAe!" Yeonjun cried trying to hold her as tight as possible, not being able to help the tears starting to blur his vision, as his hand slipped from the water and the mud and with every passing second, the dread of losing her felt more real. "Don't let go!" He yelled, as if to himself and not her. "Please.." he whispered.

He had loathed her, instead of giving her a chance to understand him, and each time this realisation gnawed at him, he felt plagued by the thought of losing her forever. It shouldn't have come down to this... Had he truly accepted his feelings, and not harness a petty, loathsome feeling such as revenge, it wouldn't have come to this.

Hate? Did he truly ever hate her?

The piece of land started breaking more, threatening a fatal fall to Yeonjun as well. The more he tried to pull her up, the faster the land seemed to wrecking.

"Yeonjun I'm scared." She said, her bloodshot eyes pleading him as the boy did his very best, it was all he could do. Crying and wishing for him to have his powers back. He wanted to save his Angel. His... Jagiya.

He gasped sharply as more land corroded, the branch of the tree HyunAe had been relying on, falling with it. The edge roughly jabbing at him as he felt it having cracks.

"Y-Yeonjun..." The girl tried to warn him, she had tried enough and he had tried more to pull her up, but nature and her curious ways was engulfing them in shadows of doom.

"I promise, I'll help you up. Just..." Yeonjun trailed off wanting to muscle it through but he couldn't see, what would destroy him too.

"It wouldn't hold." She whispered, realization dawning on her. "You need to l-let go.." she said, her voice heavy and trying to be firm but losing its stance.

"What? No! No! I won't! Are you crazy!?" Yeonjun yelled.

"You'll die too if you hold on!" She screamed looking him straight in his eyes. "I can't-" she said choking on her words, the tears beginning to sting her eyes. "I can't have you lose yourself again. All because of me."

She wanted to live, but at what cost? Wasn't he better off without her after all?

"I won't..." Yeonjun said quitely, his voice, barely above a whisper.

"But you will... The land won't hold us. You have to let go!" She yelled again, trying to push him away but he only held on harder as he frantically shook his head, ignoring the land cracking to its demise under him.

"I d-didn't mean for this to happen... I c-can't lose you to my petty anger. Please!" He sobbed, his forehead touching her hand as he tried to pull her up again but he almost lost his balance too making both of them gasp.

"Enough Yeonjun! That's it! Let go!" She exclaimed realising there wasn't much time left. "It's going to be okay. I love you, and I always will." She whispered, as she struggled to hold herself, taking one last, good look at the beautiful being she had fallen for, she had misunderstood, and she finally learnt to love wholly for who he was. "You're enough. Your Yin and Yang are both parts of you and I love all of you so much. I'm sorry I was ignorant and foolish and hurt you, but you're divine. And I promise... I love you." She whispered one last time, before it happened.

Another thunder rumbled amidst the clouds and just when the cliff gave away, she freed herself from his grip.

He gasped, his hands frantically trying to hold on to her, his eyes widening, his tears as if frozen in fear, in despair. His heart shattered in a standstill. No, he couldn't let it happen. He couldn't let his HyunAe die... It was a tantrum, he couldn't mean the cruelty he inflicted upon her, he was still the same and he always only ever loved her.

He was her Yeonjun.

Not when she saved him, not when she accepted him, not when he still loved her.

"Jagiya!"
