Isha's POV
It is awkward, you know, the feeling when you're stuck in a lift with people who look busy but stop to stare at you as you enter. And me, there isn't someone more awkward than me. It's even more awkward when I can feel the stares of the two people in the lift burning holes in my back.
These two looked very busy, and now I regret entering the lift. Shifting closer to the elevator wall, I held onto it softly, shifting all my weight onto my right leg. My left leg hurts like hell, and I am sure it might be swollen.
I hid my face more into my hoodie cap as I felt the awkwardness seeping into my bones.
The lift was on the 3rd floor now, and I have to go to the 7th floor. Still too far. I tried to stand more comfortably so as not to show any discomfort to those two behind me.
Just hang on a little. You are going to reach the 7th floor soon. The lift shook a little, the lights flickered, and suddenly it stopped. WHAT? No, no, not right now. What is wrong with the elevators in this hospital? One is already broken, and this one too? What am I going to do?
The lift shook more as my balance faltered, and I fell backward into someone's chest. AH, this is so embarrassing. At least not this.
"I'm sorry," I tried to balance myself when I felt a heated gaze from my side. Looking to my side, I saw a pair of eyes in their darkest shade; one might even describe them as black. I averted my eyes as I felt goosebumps rising all over my body.
This was the gaze I felt all the time in this elevator. The man behind me steadied me as I held onto the walls. "Thank you." He started calling someone on his phone as the elevator shook again, this time more harshly.
3rd POV
Isha fell down, closing her eyes tightly to brace for the impact of the hard floor. Instead, she felt a large hand behind her head and another one on her waist. She was sitting on the floor with the person who held her in front of her.
The man in front of her could not avert his eyes from the girl in his arms. Her eyes were tightly shut, and she was holding her hoodie tightly, her knuckles turning white. Rudransh again felt it: the peace, the suffocating small area in the lift felt like a wide space.
His hand on her waist shivered, and he felt his heartbeat quicken. He finally got a closer glimpse of her, the girl who had ruled his mind from the moment he saw her. Rudransh traced his eyes over her whole face, taking in the smallest details: her long lashes touching her cheeks as she kept her eyes tightly shut, her scrunched nose, her hair falling on her cheeks, and her lips tightly held under her teeth.
Isha's eyes opened when she felt no pain and someone holding her. Her eyes met Rudransh's dark ones, which seemed to stare into her soul. Her eyes shifted downward when she felt the intense gaze was too much for her.
"Are you okay?" the rough voice of the man spoke, making her feel too nervous to even look at him. Rudransh's heart flipped when she looked down, avoiding his gaze. What was happening to him? He had never felt anything like this in his entire life. How could a mere girl make him feel these emotions?
A mere girl—even the thought of calling her a mere girl burned his chest. "I'm sorry, I just lost my balance because of the sudden turbulence. You can let go now." Isha spoke, feeling embarrassed that she, a grown woman, had fallen in front of two grown men.
Suddenly, she noticed her position and the presence of another man who looked like he had seen something hideous. He had turned his back towards them.
"You can let go now." Rudransh felt like saying NO when she asked him to let her go. Why would he? Even he didn't know, but all he knew was that the woman in his arms was his peace and the source of these unknown emotions inside him.
The elevator door opened, revealing the manager with some 20 staff members standing behind him, their fearful expressions slowly turning to shock at the scene in front of them.
Isha felt like hiding from the world and going into hibernation when she saw the staff witnessing them in this position. She was about to get up as the man backed a little, 2 centimeters or something, but he suddenly lifted her up in his arms, startling her.
Isha held the shoulder of the man. "It's okay, I can walk." He ignored her and the others outside and started walking, Vittoro following him silently without an expression.
"I can walk, please put me dow—" Isha's voice stuck in her throat when she saw his cold stare on her. She looked away and kept quiet all the way until he reached a bench and sat her down.
He sat down on his knees as all the staff gasped at the sight. Vittoro stepped forward, "Sir, I can—" He shut his mouth when he saw his boss raise his hand.
Rudransh gently lifted the girl's leg and placed it on his knee, examining her swollen ankle. He began to massage the area slowly, watching her reaction. Isha tried to stifle her cry by biting her lips and closing her eyes tightly.
Rudransh looked at the girl in pain and felt an overwhelming urge to eliminate the cause of her suffering. He glanced at one of the staff members. "Prepare a room for her."
Isha tried to protest, but his stern look silenced her, and she quickly looked down. The staff hurried away to fulfill the order of the man known not only by him but by the entire country. They knew the consequences of making him wait.
