Months had passed, and Rudransh had gone abroad for a few days to deal with some issues. It was Isha's seventh month, and today, he was coming back. All the ladies were sitting in the living room, having tea, while Isha lay on the sofa with her head resting on her mother-in-law's lap. Maya gently threaded her fingers through Isha's hair.
Mayank stared at Isha before narrowing his eyes at her. "Look, beta, I love you, but at least spare my wife for me. You can take my son, I won't care, but please have some mercy on me, hmm?"
Maya threw a pillow at him. "Shh!"
While they were having the time of their lives, a servant arrived and informed them that someone wanted to meet Rani Sa.
Maya stood up and told Isha to rest, assuring her that she would handle it. The doctor had strictly instructed her not to take any stress. However, curiosity got the better of Isha. She carefully stood up, holding her waist for support, and walked outside, hiding behind a curtain to listen.
Maya and Mayank were faced with a woman who looked to be in her 30s. She was crying desperately, pleading for mercy.
"Help me, my lord, please!"
Maya urged her to speak.
The woman took a deep breath, trying to collect herself. "When my husband and I were in a relationship, he wanted to study further, but we had no money. Companies had stopped hiring inexperienced people. I convinced my parents to get me married to him, leaving behind my own dreams of studying further. The money that came with me was used to support him. He loved me so much, and soon, he graduated. We planned to have a child."
She sobbed hard but tried to remain composed. Her young daughter stood beside her, watching her mother with a curious expression.
"I was pregnant with our child, and we were so happy. But after the delivery, my body changed. The doctor assured me I would recover in a few months with exercise and medication, but I didn't. This is how I look now." She pointed at her chubby stomach and the stretch marks on her body. "I was 25 when I had her. Around that time, Rana Sa's company gave him a job. I am 35 now, and just recently, I found out that my husband has been cheating on me. For the past eight years, while I was dealing with all the stress, he was out there enjoying his life and loving someone else."
She cried bitterly, lowering her head onto the concrete floor. The servants immediately rushed to help her up.
"I don't know where I went wrong. Why would he do this to me? What should I do now? I have nothing left."
From behind the curtain, Isha stepped out. "Does your husband know that you know about his affair?"
The woman looked startled at Isha's sudden presence and quickly bowed in respect. "N-no, he doesn't. I just found out. I didn't know what to do, so I came here. You have always helped us. Please forgive me for troubling you, but please... help me and my child."
"Have you considered divorcing him?" Isha asked.
The woman looked up at her in shock before lowering her gaze. "I am just an illiterate woman with no support. How can I face my family? And I don't want my child to grow up without a father."
Isha turned to the little girl and called her over. The child walked up to her hesitantly, worry evident on her small face.
"Go calm your mother," Isha spoke gently.
The little girl pouted before rushing to her mother and hugging her tightly. "Mummy, leave Papa," she mumbled, holding on to her mother.
Isha crouched down, looking at the child. "Mumma is hurt because of Papa. What should she do?"
