The breakfast was tense. Isha could feel the tension between Ishaan and Vittorio. Right now, Ishaan is in the guest room, with her sitting next to him. He was just looking down, and soon his lips wobbled.
Isha gave a sad look and patted his head. He burst into tears and jumped onto her. Isha's shoulder got wet because of his tears, but she kept caressing his hair, not to calm him down but to let him cry more.
Her theory is that if you feel sad or stressed, it's better to cry and let it all out, whether to a loved one or even alone, because it's not good for the brain to handle all that stress alone.
"My father fixed my marriage!" he said between sobs, hugging her even tighter. His sobs became loud, and he started shaking. Isha caressed his back.
"You agreed?" she asked in her calm voice. Ishaan nodded his head yes and laid his head on her lap, snuggling into her.
"Why?" She knew whatever reason he had, it would just make her blood boil. She is very protective of her friend because she has seen him at his worst, and it was so hard to get his usual personality back. But whenever his father's name came up, she knew if there was one murder to forgive, she would have killed him.
He didn't lift his head and whispered, "She knows what happened to me and threatened to expose it." Isha's fingers curled, and she closed her eyes, knowing exactly what past he was referring to.
"He even brought him there." Isha licked her lips and closed her eyes, breathing through her mouth.
"Didn't he hate him?" Her question was genuine. She thought his father hated both him and Ishaan. She patted his head more, signaling that the crying was enough, and now she needed answers.
Ishaan whined but got up, his eyes puffy and red, and his lips a bit swollen from biting them. He pouted and sniffed. Her heart clenched, thinking how a family could be so bad, and what right did she have to talk when her own family was like this.
"Start." Ishaan sniffed and again looked down. "I was enjoying the wedding when they came to me and introduced the girl. I went to the balcony with her and told her I don't like women. She did a 360° and said she didn't care; she just wants to marry me. She also said she knew my secret. I couldn't say no to her. When I went back, I saw him with my parents. My father was all smiles and happy with him."
"When nobody was there, as they had all gone outside for your bidaai, my parents also went there he again tried to force me. My own cousin tried to force me AGAIN. The girl didn't stop him, and they threatened me that they would tell my parents and everyone again, and nobody would believe me, just like my parents didn't. So I had to shut my mouth." He was sobbing again, and Isha felt tears prickling at the back of her eyes. She was about to say something but noticed his sobs had quieted, and he smiled a little as he said, "Then..."
She waited for him to continue and realized Vittorio was also there. Why didn't he do anything?
"Mr. Vittorio also went there; why didn't he help you?!" Isha was angry, not because she asked him to protect him, but as a human, shouldn't he at least try to help him? And didn't he like Ishaan?
"What's that on your neck?" Isha's thoughts were interrupted as he asked. She responded with a 'huh' and tried to touch her neck where there was a little pain. Her eyes widened, and she pulled her hair forward, which was below shoulder length. Gulping a little when she saw his teasing smile.
"There's a cut on your lips too. Did you get into a fight or something?" she tried to divert the question and succeeded. He blushed a little, licked his cut, and looked away. His neck and ears turned red, and his nose pink.
