Isha's POV
I stood there, trying to find a way to excuse myself so I could leave. Even Aryan had gone somewhere. Ishaan, where are you? Please save me.
Suddenly, someone held my hand, startling me. "Surprise!!" I turned around to find Ishaan, looking fresh as if he hadn't been sick a few hours before.
I glanced back at the brother and sister duo. Finally, I could go; I couldn't handle Rudransh sir's gaze for even a minute more. It felt like something intense was brewing inside of him, something I found hard to look at. As a psychology student, I have studied human behavior and can usually tell what a person is thinking, but with him, it was difficult to read.
"I have to go. I have something really important to discuss with Ishaan. Please enjoy your night," I said, bowing slightly before walking away, dragging a confused Ishaan with me. He stopped me when we reached a more secluded area.
"What were you doing with them?" He looked at me like he had seen a ghost. I gave him a confused look in return.
"Do you even know who that was?" he asked, holding my shoulders dramatically. I shook my head, too tired to even speak. I had spoken so much today, and I was drained.
"That's Rudransh Singh Rajput," he said. My eyes widened. Rudransh Singh Rajput, the man from the articles I read because of Ishaan. I had been too busy—or one could say too lazy—to search his name before.
I stood there, trying to process what Ishaan had just told me. Rudransh Singh Rajput. The name alone carried weight and power, and here I was, completely oblivious to the gravity of the situation I was in. I remembered the articles, the stories of his influence, and the respect and fear he commanded. I don't know why I didn't think they both are same.
He had beat several business titan's business in just a few months he had taken over the company and many other scary stories.
...................................
They had been standing there for ten minutes with no vehicle in sight, likely because it was private property. Isha's legs began to hurt, so she sat down on the footpath, massaging them. It wasn't dark there, as lights had been set up to illuminate a long distance from the marriage place.
"Why don't you book a cab?" exclaimed Isha, now tired and just wanting to lie down and sleep.
Ishaan smiled nervously. "Hah--ha-hahha."
Isha gave him a side-eye at his weird behavior, sensing something wasn't right. She raised her eyebrow at him. "Is your phone dead?"
"So, that means you came here without charging your phone even when you were at the apartment the whole time, and instead of telling me, you were standing here making a fool out of us. You could have asked me, you dumbo!" Isha breathed heavily after her rant while Ishaan stood with his head down.
"I thought your phone wouldn't be charged as you've been here since the evening," he spoke in a small voice, giving Isha a pout.
"A fool comes here without a charged phone. Moreover, don't you know that whenever I am out, my phone's battery is always full?" Whenever she goes out, she ensures her phone is fully charged, with an earpod, which is a compulsory item in her bag.
"Sorry," Ishaan spoke, puckering his lips more. Isha forwarded her phone to him. "Here, book a cab." She kept her head on her knees, closing her eyes.
Ishaan was going to book a cab when he heard the sound of cars approaching. He looked up to find five cars coming their way.
Rudransh was going back to his office. He wasn't in the mood to stay when he found out she had left him alone again and gone home.
His eyes fell on the roadside where a girl was sitting on the footpath, clad in a blue suit with her dupatta wrapped around her, and a boy standing, doing something on his phone. He recognized the boy as the one who was with Isha.
His eyes hardened. Why was she sitting on a footpath alone with a boy who looked like he needed safeguarding himself? What if something happened to her? "Stop the car," he ordered.
The driver stopped the car in front of the two people. It was the first time his boss had given him an order, and it sent chills down his spine.
Rudransh got out of the car. He approached Isha and Ishaan, his eyes filled with concern and a hint of anger. Ishaan, recognizing Rudransh, quickly put away Isha's phone and took a step back.
Rudransh looked at Isha, who was still resting her head on her knees, and then at Ishaan. "What are you two doing here at this hour?" he demanded.
Isha, startled by the familiar voice, lifted her head and looked at Rudransh. "What are you doing here sir?" Dumb question Isha. Her mind retorted to her.
"I could ask you the same thing," he retorted. Ishaan, sensing the tension, quickly explained, "We were waiting for a cab, but my phone died. Isha was just letting me use hers when your cars arrived."
Rudransh's expression remained hard. "And you thought it was a good idea to sit out here alone?" He took a deep breath, trying to calm himself. "Get in the car. I'll take you home," he ordered, his tone leaving no room for argument.
"Only her!" Ishaan interjected, making Isha look at him with irritation.
Rudransh noticed Isha's change of expression. It was something new he hadn't seen in her before. He suddenly felt wary of Ishaan, sensing that they were very close and that Ishaan knew her more deeply than he did.
Vittoro approached from behind. "Sir, are you alri—" he stopped speaking when his eyes fell on Ishaan. He saw the woman beside him, the same one who had held his boss captive.
"I'm ready, let's go," Ishaan said, jumping into the car and smiling at Vittoro, making his heart skip a beat. Isha looked at Ishaan, bewildered at how he could trust a stranger so quickly. Before she could speak another word, Ishaan was already in the car.
She looked at Rudransh, who was already staring at her. Sighing, she thought, He seems to like staring at people.
"Let's go," Rudransh said, breaking the silence, and they all got into the car.
