Isha sat in the car next to Rudransh as he asked if she could stay with him, and she agreed. The car moved through the quiet roads before entering the market. It was night, and the glow of the market lights made the atmosphere feel calm and magical.
Her eyes traced over the various stalls, and she grew excited at seeing all the different items on display. Rudransh kept his eyes on her, watching her glowing expression, her eyes sparkling with curiosity. She looked absolutely adorable.
"Stop." His voice was quiet but firm. The car came to a halt, and Isha turned toward him in confusion, noticing his gaze fixed solely on her.
"It's the village fair," he said quietly, and she felt her curiosity spike. He opened his door and stepped out, walking to her side. The villagers around them had stopped to watch.
He opened her door, offering her his hand. Her gaze shifted to the people staring at them before looking back at him.
Understanding her hesitation, Rudransh glared at the crowd with his hard eyes. The villagers, sensing his silent command, quickly averted their gazes and went about their business, giving space to their king. Rudransh turned back to her, silently asking if it was alright now.
Isha felt her heart skip a beat and, with a quiet nod, gave him her hand, stepping out. They began strolling through the fair together, and despite Rudransh's hatred for crowds and the touch of others, he walked beside her, his every step steady and protective.
The villagers knew well that their king disliked crowded places and physical contact. They both feared and respected him.
Isha's eyes fell on a stall displaying jewelry, especially the sparkling silver pieces. She turned her head toward Rudransh, who was watching her bask in excitement with his dark gaze. Her doe eyes sought his permission to go closer.
Rudransh nodded, preparing to follow her, when one of his men approached with a phone call. Isha noticed his hesitation and nodded, reassuring him that he could take the call.
"I'll just look at the stall and stay right here. You can rest assured," she said softly.
Rudransh, though reluctant, gave a sharp nod. "Sir, Mr. Yagami is on the call," his guard reminded him. His jaw clenched as he took a deep breath and ordered his guard to stay with her.
Isha gave the guard a small smile before wandering toward the stall. The guard stood a bit away to give her space to enjoy herself without feeling watched.
She picked up a few earrings, inspecting them excitedly. Beside her stood two young girls, around 17 or 18, giggling quietly amongst themselves. Isha adored how happy they looked. Suddenly, a whistle sounded behind her.
Isha ignored it at first, thinking it was some random noise, but she noticed the girls' giggling had stopped. They stood silently now, holding each other's hands tightly. She frowned in confusion and put the earrings down, glancing toward them from the corner of her eye.
The confusion cleared when she saw three men in their late 20s approaching, their leering gazes focused on the girls. One of them twisted a strand of the girl's hair around his finger, a sickening display that made Isha's skin prickle with unease.
The rest of the fair carried on, too busy to notice the fear in the girls' eyes. The shopkeeper was preoccupied with other customers, and when Isha turned back, the girls were gone.
Panic surged through her as she scanned the crowd, finally spotting the girls being led toward the forest area by the men. Horrified at the possibilities, she quickly looked for the bodyguard but didn't have time to find him. The girls were disappearing into the trees, and her instinct to protect took over.
