Isha sat on Rudransh's lap as he caressed her stomach under her kurta tenderly, but his eyes were murderous. The driver broke into a cold sweat as he drove to the hospital at high speed. Isha held her stomach tightly to suppress the pain caused by one of the kicks she had received.
She could feel Rudransh breathing heavily, and it honestly scared her. She took a deep breath and tried to ignore the pain.
"I'm—I'm fine," she whispered, but was met with Rudransh's hard eyes. He didn't say anything, his hand continuing to caress her stomach. The car jolted due to a speed breaker on the road, causing Isha to hiss and Rudransh to glare at the driver.
"Did you fucking forget how to drive!" The driver visibly flinched and murmured, "Sorry, sir," before driving more carefully.
They reached the hospital in 7 minutes and 36 seconds—yes, Rudransh was counting. He got out of the car with her in his arms. The hospital staff gasped, seeing the king arriving, and rushed over with a stretcher. Rudransh ignored the stretcher and walked straight to the ward with her still in his arms.
The doctor was already present and approached them as soon as Rudransh came into sight.
Isha sat on the bed while the doctor put light pressure on the bruise to assess the pain. Isha hissed and closed her eyes tightly at the discomfort, and Rudransh shot a harsh glare at the doctor, who felt goosebumps rise on his skin.
"The stomach bruise looks bad. Was Rani-sa hurt there before?" the doctor asked calmly after examining the wound.
"A stab a month ago," Isha answered softly. Rudransh clenched his fists in anger, furious for not being there whenever she was hurt. He gritted his teeth, the veins in his neck bulging, and took a deep breath to calm himself.
"I'll apply some ointment on the bruise. The inner tissues hadn't fully healed from the stab, which is why it hurts so much. But no worries, the inner organs aren't significantly harmed. Just take light food for 2 to 3 days to allow the tissues to recover," the doctor said as he took out a tube. He tried to lift her kurta but stopped when he felt Rudransh's dark gaze piercing into him.
Isha looked at the nervous doctor, then at Rudransh, who looked like he could kill someone any minute. Rudransh stepped forward and extended his hand.
"Give it to me. You'll hurt her."
The doctor hesitated but eventually handed the tube to Rudransh, who sat beside the bed on a chair and held the hem of her kurta. His gaze returned to the doctor, who gulped and turned around.
Rudransh lifted the kurta and took some ointment on his fingers. Isha tensed and tried to hide her slightly chubby tummy, which had always made her self-conscious. Now, a new scar had been added. Rudransh looked into her eyes and gently removed her hand from covering her stomach.
He carefully spread the ointment on her bruised skin, where red marks were starting to turn purplish. His fingers moved as gently as possible, ensuring not to cause her any more pain.
Once he finished, he pulled her kurta back down and turned to the doctor. "Done," he said.
The doctor turned around and nodded. "Does it hurt anywhere else?" he asked Isha.
Isha glanced at Rudransh before lifting her hand. Her wrists were slightly red and trembled a little. "My wrists hurt a lot."
The doctor came forward and gently pressed her wrist, asking her to move it. Isha winced slightly from the pain, and the doctor suggested an X-ray. Rudransh, silent the whole time, picked her up and demanded the doctor do a full MRI scan.
