The room was thick with awkward silence as Hyunjin and Felix sat across from each other. Their parents—powerful business tycoons—watched, looking hopeful, as if this meeting was supposed to change anything.
Hyunjin tapped his fingers on the marble table, sizing up Felix with narrowed eyes.
"So, this is the guy I'm supposed to marry?" Felix finally spoke up, sarcasm heavy in his voice.
"Yeah, not my first choice either," Hyunjin replied, rolling his eyes.
Their parents exchanged glances, clearly disappointed by their reactions.
"Let's get down to business," Mr. Hwang, Hyunjin's father, said, sliding a stack of documents onto the table. "This marriage benefits both our families."
Felix let out a sigh, glancing at the papers. "Do we really have to do this?"
"Yes," Mrs. Lee, Felix's mother, replied, her tone unyielding. "It's for the best."
The contract detailed everything—responsibilities, financial plans, and, worst of all, the fake romance they'd need to put on for the public.
"You'll need to act like a loving couple in public," Mr. Hwang emphasized. "The media will be watching. And don't forget, you'll be on that love show."
Felix and Hyunjin exchanged a weary glance.
"Fine," Hyunjin muttered, signing the contract with a flick of his pen.
Felix followed suit, his face set in reluctant resignation.
"Welcome to your new life," Mrs. Lee said, forcing a smile that looked as fake as their upcoming 'relationship.'
"Thanks," Felix muttered, getting up and heading toward his room without a backward glance. The idea of being traded for profit made his skin crawl. What kind of parent does that?
"Hyunjin, go talk to him," Mr. Hwang ordered, not even looking up.
Hyunjin sighed but got up and followed, dragging his feet. Outside Felix's door, he could hear muffled sobs. He hesitated before slowly opening the door.
"Felix..." he started, but froze at the sight of Felix, eyes red and cheeks wet.
Hyunjin closed the door behind him and sat beside him, careful to keep a little distance. "You know, you're not the only one stuck here. Do you really think crying is gonna solve anything?" he said, his voice a bit harsher than he'd intended.
Felix shot him a glare, hurt and shock flickering in his eyes.
"You're a model. I'm an actor. Our parents are businessmen. Can't say I didn't expect something like this," Hyunjin shrugged, dropping back against the bed, not a trace of sadness in his face, while Felix tried to choke back his tears.
Felix scoffed. "Not everyone's as heartless as you. I thought my parents actually cared."
Hyunjin rolled his eyes and stared at the ceiling, mumbling, "Heartless? Sure, let's go with that."
Felix got up, stormed to the bathroom, and splashed his face with cold water, hoping to calm the swelling. He had a shoot tomorrow, after all. No need to look worse for wear.
"When am I moving to your apartment?" Felix called out coldly from the bathroom, drying his face with a towel.
Hyunjin sat up in surprise. "Wait—you're moving in with me?"
"Why else would I be crying, genius?" Felix replied, walking back into the room with his arms crossed, looking annoyed.
Hyunjin groaned, plopping back on the bed. "Fantastic. Just what I needed."
"Too bad. Go complain to your parents if you don't like it." Felix tossed a pillow at Hyunjin's head, hitting him squarely.
Hyunjin glared, rubbing his head. "You're insufferable."
Felix shrugged. "Yeah, well, you're stuck with me."
Hyunjin grumbled but finally sat up, tossing a spare key to Felix. "Fine. Move in tomorrow. I'll be out for a shoot, so ask the maid if you need anything. Just don't touch my room."
Felix pocketed the key with a small nod.
Without another word, Hyunjin got up and headed for the door. As he left, he caught one last look at Felix, who just sighed and turned away, looking tired but determined.
