I sat at my desk, staring out the window. The world outside was just as I had imagined it while writing, but being here—living in it—was surreal. My apartment was small, and modest, the kind of place I'd given to minor characters in my story. It wasn't flashy, but it was enough. Enough for me to stay close to them. Hyunjin and Felix. HyunLix.
I never thought I'd have to warn my own characters about traps I'd written into their lives, but here I was. A creator in her own world, scrambling to fix the messes I'd created with my own words.
The show was over. The cameras had stopped rolling, the crew had packed up, and everyone else had moved on. Everyone except for us. They didn't know the threats lingering in the shadows, but I did. After all, I'd written them. Every twist, every danger, every scheme designed to add drama and suspense—it was all my doing.
And now I had to undo it but I don't think the minor plot needs time because me being here and changing the flow of the story has already destroyed many many ones.
we just need the main accident.
I glanced at the clock. It was late, but I knew I didn't have time to waste. I grabbed my phone and dialed Felix's number.
He picked up after the second ring. "Yuri?"
"Felix," I said, trying to keep my voice steady. "Listen to me. You and Hyunjin need to stay home tonight. Don't go out. Not even for a second."
There was a pause, and I could hear faint music in the background—probably from the speaker in their apartment. "What? Why?"
"I don't have time to explain everything," I said quickly. "Just trust me. It's not safe. There are things I... things I know about. Things that could hurt you both."
"Things you know?" His voice was sharp now, edged with suspicion.
I winced. Of course, he'd pick up on that. "Yes. I know it sounds weird, but please, Felix. I wouldn't be calling if it wasn't important. Just stay in."
There was another pause, longer this time. I could hear Hyunjin's muffled voice in the background, probably asking who was on the phone. Then Felix sighed. "Alright. We'll stay in. But you're explaining everything later."
"Deal," I said, relief washing over me. "Just—don't take this lightly, okay? Stay safe."
"Yeah, yeah," he muttered, and the line went dead.
I set my phone down, exhaling slowly. That was step one: keeping them out of harm's way. Step two would be harder—earning their trust.
Meanwhile, in their apartment, Felix leaned back against the couch, his phone still in his hand. Hyunjin was sitting across from him, a mug of tea in his hands.
"What was that about?" Hyunjin asked, his brow furrowed.
"Yuri," Felix said, tossing his phone onto the coffee table. "She told us not to go out tonight. Said it wasn't safe."
Hyunjin raised an eyebrow. "Not safe? Did she say why?"
Felix shook his head. "Nope. Just told us to trust her."
Hyunjin leaned back, a thoughtful expression on his face. "You think she's telling the truth?"
Felix shrugged. "I don't know. But she sounded serious."
Hyunjin hummed, tapping his fingers against the side of his mug. "Well, I guess we're staying in. Might as well make the most of it."
Felix grinned, grabbing a blanket and tossing it over Hyunjin's head. "Movie night?"
Hyunjin pulled the blanket off with a mock glare. "Fine, but I'm picking the movie."
"Whatever," Felix said, rolling his eyes. "Just don't pick one of those boring art films again."
Hyunjin smirked, already scrolling through the options.
The next morning, I woke up early, my mind still racing. I couldn't stop thinking about HyunLix—about how they trusted me, even if only a little. It was strange, being on the other side of the story. I'd written them to be strong, resilient, capable of handling anything I threw at them. But now that I was here, I couldn't just sit back and let them face it alone.
I got dressed quickly and made my way to their apartment. When I arrived, Felix was the one who opened the door. He looked surprised to see me but stepped aside to let me in.
"Morning," I said, trying to sound casual.
"Morning," he replied, closing the door behind me.
Hyunjin was in the kitchen, making coffee. He glanced over his shoulder when he heard my voice. "Yuri. This is a surprise."
"I figured I owed you an explanation," I said, sitting down on the couch.
Felix raised an eyebrow as he joined me. "About last night?"
I nodded, folding my hands in my lap. "There are... things happening behind the scenes. People who don't want to see you two succeed. I know it sounds vague, but trust me when I say it's better if you don't know all the details."
Hyunjin set a cup of coffee in front of me and sat down beside Felix. "Why do you know so much about this?"
I hesitated, choosing my words carefully. "Let's just say I've been around long enough to learn a few things."
Felix narrowed his eyes at me, clearly not satisfied with my answer, but he didn't push further.
As the day went on, the tension between us began to ease. Hyunjin and Felix had always been playful with each other, and I found myself getting drawn into their dynamic.
At one point, Felix decided to make lunch, but his cooking skills left much to be desired.
"Are you sure that's edible?" Hyunjin asked, leaning against the counter with a smirk.
"Hey, I'm doing my best!" Felix shot back, stirring the contents of the pan with exaggerated care.
I couldn't help but laugh. "You might want to order takeout just in case."
Felix glared at me playfully. "You're not helping."
Hyunjin chuckled, grabbing a bottle of water from the fridge. "She's got a point, though."
In the end, Felix's attempt at cooking turned out surprisingly decent, and the three of us sat down to eat together. It was a simple moment, but it felt... nice. Normal.
After lunch, we watched some old episodes of the show. It was strange to see it from their perspective.
"Look at my face here," Hyunjin said, pausing the screen. "I look like I'm in pain."
Felix burst out laughing. "You were in pain. You tripped over the camera wires right before this scene."
"Oh, right," Hyunjin said, laughing along.
I couldn't stop smiling as I watched them banter. They were so different from how I'd imagined them while writing. So much more real.
And for a moment, I forgot about the traps, the threats, the dangers I'd written into their lives. For a moment, it was just the three of us, laughing together like old friends.
But the moment didn't last. As the evening approached, I found myself growing anxious again. I knew the threats weren't over. There were still so many traps I hadn't warned them about, so many dangers lurking just out of sight.
