The set was alive with noise—people rushing back and forth, scripts being passed around, and equipment being adjusted. I leaned against the wall, arms crossed, watching Hyunjin as he rehearsed his lines. He looked completely in his element, his confidence radiating with every word he spoke.
I couldn't help but smile to myself. It was hard not to when he got so absorbed in his craft. I can see why people love him, his acting seems so real. But my gaze shifted upward, catching sight of the rigging crew working on the lights above him. A small frown tugged at my lips. They were in too much of a hurry, not double-checking their work the way they should.
That's not good.
My stomach churned. I'd seen enough sets to know that even the smallest mistake could lead to disaster. Hyunjin stepped forward, his focus on the script in his hand, oblivious to the precariously balanced equipment above him.
Move him, Yuri. Now.
I pushed off the wall, weaving my way through the busy set. Although my heart was racing, I kept my pace steady, not wanting to draw attention to myself.
"Hyunjin," I called out as I approached him.
He glanced up from his script, his brow furrowed. "Yuri? What's up?"
"You've been at this for hours," I said, keeping my tone light. "Take a break. You'll burn out if you keep going like this."
He tilted his head, clearly suspicious. "I'm fine. We're almost done with this scene."
"Come on," I insisted, stepping closer. "Five minutes won't kill you. Besides, you look like you could use some air."
He sighed, glancing back at the director and then at me. "Alright, fine. But you owe me for this."
"Coffee later," I promised, gently nudging him away from the center of the set.
We had barely taken a few steps when the crash came.
The sound of metal hitting the ground was deafening, cutting through the chatter and movement like a knife. My head snapped back to the spot where Hyunjin had been standing just moments ago. The light rigging had collapsed, and the beams sprawled across the floor in a chaotic mess.
Hyunjin froze, his face pale as he stared at the scene. "What the—"
"You're welcome," I said, though my voice wavered. My hands were still trembling, but I shoved them into my pockets to hide them.
He turned to me, his eyes wide. "You...how did you know?"
"I don't know," I lied with a shrug. Hmm, I guess it's because women have a sixth sense, don't you know?"
he looked at me with narrowed eyes but shrugged.
Later, we found ourselves sitting at a nearby café. Hyunjin sipped his coffee, his earlier shock gradually fading into a more relaxed demeanor.
"Thanks for pulling me away earlier," he said after a moment.
"Don't mention it," I replied, stirring my tea. "I couldn't let you get crushed on my watch."
He chuckled, but there was still a hint of unease in his expression. "You're always looking out for me, huh?"
"it makes me the 2nd person I guess," I teased, smirking.
He rolled his eyes but didn't argue. Instead, he started talking about Felix—how swamped he was at the company, how he'd been texting Hyunjin all day about some investor who was being difficult.
I couldn't help but smile as I listened. Hyunjin's tone was softer when he talked about Felix, his usual sharp edges smoothing out. The affection was so obvious, even in the smallest details he mentioned.
"You two are disgustingly cute," I said, unable to resist.
Hyunjin gave me a look but didn't deny it. "He's been stressed lately. I should probably pick up dinner on the way home."
Back on set, the atmosphere was more subdued. Although the earlier accident had put everyone on edge, they were working more carefully now.
I kept my distance, leaning against the wall again as I watched Hyunjin dive into his next scene. He was a natural, effortlessly commanding the attention of everyone in the room. But every now and then, his phone would buzz on the table nearby, and he'd glance at it with a small smile.
Felix, obviously, I thought, my own lips twitching into a grin. It was amusing how they couldn't go a few hours without checking in on each other.
As the day wore on, I stayed in my usual spot, observing everything. Hyunjin didn't notice neither did anyone as they were too absorbed in his work to pay me much mind. But that was fine. I didn't mind being in the background.
When the shoot finally wrapped up, Hyunjin grabbed his bag and headed over to me.
"Thanks for earlier," he said, his voice low. "I owe you one."
"You owe me several," I corrected, smirking.
He rolled his eyes. "Anyway, I should get going. Felix is probably waiting for me and I don't want to be late."
"Tell him I said hi," I said, watching as he walked away.
The set emptied around me, the bustling energy fading into a quiet stillness. I stayed behind, my thoughts swirling as I replayed the day in my head.
Hyunjin and Felix were in their own little world, completely wrapped up in each other. And I...I don't know...I feel terrible knowing that Mrs.Lee wasn't the only reason I forced them to the love show?
Maybe, I don't...
maybe I should just leave them to be happy without any disturbances.
After all, I'm not even supposed to be here.
SOO...
