The morning sunlight streamed into the living room, casting warm streaks across the floor. I blinked awake, the faint aroma of coffee pulling me from the haze of sleep. The apartment was unusually quiet, save for the soft clinking of a spoon against a mug.
Rubbing the sleep from my eyes, I walked into the kitchen and found Felix standing there, humming under his breath. He was dressed in loose sweats and a hoodie, his hair still slightly messy from sleep. He looked... soft.
"Morning," he said, glancing up with a bright smile.
"Morning," I mumbled, grabbing a glass of water.
"You sleep well?" Felix asked, sliding a mug of coffee toward me without even asking if I wanted one.
"Yeah. You?"
Felix shrugged, leaning against the counter. "Could've been worse. Could've been better. But waking up to this view isn't so bad."
He motioned toward the window, where the city skyline glowed under the early morning light. I sipped the coffee, the bitterness slowly waking me up.
"You're in a good mood," I noted.
Felix grinned, and it was that grin—the one that was too sweet for this hour and too genuine for me to brush off easily. "Just trying to make the most of a rare day off. Plus, I thought we could hang out. Do something low-key."
"Low-key like another Ferris wheel?" I teased, raising an eyebrow.
Felix laughed softly, his eyes crinkling at the corners. "No rides this time. I was thinking of movies. Snacks. Maybe I'll show you my designs."
I nearly choked on my coffee. "You? Relaxing?"
He gave me a mock-offended look. "Don't sound so surprised. I do know how to have fun, you know."
"Sure you do," I teased, smirking.
a quiet chuckle escaped his mouth and a smile graced my lips.
Felix rolled his eyes but grabbed a bag of chips from the counter, tossing it toward me. "C'mon, Hyun. You need this as much as I do."
The morning turned into a lazy stretch of hours on the couch. Felix insisted on starting with an old rom-com, claiming it was "perfect for the mood." I didn't argue, mostly because watching him get excited over the smallest details in the movie was entertaining enough.
"You see that? The way he held the door for her?" Felix said, his voice filled with mock outrage. "That's how it's done."
I snorted. "Since when are you the expert on romance?"
"Since I started living with you," he shot back, grinning.
Felix turned to me, his expression suddenly more thoughtful. "Do you think people really act like that in real life? All grand gestures and perfect timing?"
I hesitated, shrugging. "Maybe. But I do and I think it's the little things that matter more."
Felix tilted his head, watching me like he was trying to figure something out. "Like what?"
"Like..." I gestured vaguely, trying to put my thoughts into words. "I don't know. Bringing someone coffee in the morning. Watching dumb movies together. Stuff that's real."
His smile softened, and for a second, I wondered if I'd said too much, hoping he doesn't catch on.
At some point, Felix grabbed his tablet and scooted closer, his excitement palpable. "Okay, now I have to show you these."
I raised an eyebrow but didn't move away. "Your designs?"
"Yep. Fresh from my brain," he said, pulling up the sketches and giggling.
the giggle...he needs to stop making huge differences with the smallest details.
The designs were stunning, as always. Each one felt alive like it had a story to tell. Felix explained each detail with a quiet passion, his hands moving animatedly as he spoke.
"This one," he said, pointing at a sleek black suit with gold accents, "is meant to feel timeless but modern. I wanted it to have this bold energy without being too much, you know?"
I nodded, trying to focus on his words, but it wasn't easy. His smile lit up the entire room, not when he was sitting so close.
"Hyun?" Felix prompted, his voice cutting through my thoughts.
"Uh, yeah. It's perfect. Bold energy," I echoed, hoping I sounded coherent.
Felix gave me a look, his brow furrowing slightly. "You weren't listening, were you?"
"Of course I was," I lied, though the slight heat in my cheeks probably gave me away.
Felix sighed dramatically, shaking his head. "You're impossible."
"And yet you still put up with me," I shot back, smirking.
Felix laughed, the sound soft and full of warmth. "Someone has to."
By the time the sun dipped lower in the sky, the apartment felt even cozier, like the world outside didn't exist. Felix stretched out on the couch, his feet nudging mine playfully.
"This was nice," he said softly, his voice quieter now.
"Yeah," I agreed, watching him as he stared up at the ceiling, a faint smile on his lips.
For a moment, the room felt too still, too charged with something I couldn't name. I looked away, focusing on the now-empty snack bowls on the table.
"hmm...how about tomorrow we complete that one last favor? are you up for it?" I asked him, nudging his arm.
"Yeah," He said again, his voice softer this time.
As I glanced back at him, his eyes met mine, and for a split second, the world felt like it had stopped spinning.
Felix broke the moment with a yawn, sitting up and stretching. "Alright, time for me to crash. Big day tomorrow."
I nodded, standing up as well. "Yeah. Don't forget, you are the one who asked that favor."
Felix grinned, his usual playfulness returning. "how could  I ever forget?"
As I lay in bed that night, I replayed the day in my mind: the laughter, the quiet moments, and the way Felix's voice softened when he talked about his work.
Stop pretending, the thought whispered again, louder than before.
I sighed, burying my face in my pillow. But no matter how hard I tried, I couldn't stop thinking about Felix—his smile, his laugh, the way he made everything feel a little brighter.
and I kept wondering,
why is it so easy to fall in love with him? the feelings that I suppressed for so long came drifting back so easily..
