On the day of incident,

Ja arrived at his office after dropping Gulf off at school. On his way, he called the restaurant where he had made a reservation, asking them to push back the time as they would be late.

"P'Ja, I thought you were off today," one of the interns said with a smile.

"Well, I have a few things to settle. Then I'll head back," Ja replied, walking toward his office.

"Maybe we can grab a bite together?" the intern suggested, smiling and trying to catch Ja's attention.

"I don't think I can. You should hang out with others and socialize to better adapt to the company," Ja explained.

The intern didn’t give up. He came to Ja’s office again before lunch, asking if Ja was hungry.

"I’m going out after this, so I’ll just finish up here," Ja said, focusing on his computer. The intern suddenly pouted, his eyes filling with tears.

The intern told Ja he felt lonely at the company and that no one wanted him. He also mentioned he might quit if Ja pushed him away. After a few minutes, Ja tidied up his things and looked up.

"That’s your problem. I only eat with others in a group because I care about my boyfriend's feelings," Ja said quickly, leaving his office.

Before picking up Gulf, Ja stopped at the mall and walked into a jewelry store, browsing the rings. His phone buzzed with calls, mostly from the intern. The intern sent a text apologizing. Ja deleted the texts and ignored the calls, putting his phone on silent to avoid further interruptions.

"What can I help you with, sir?" the sales associate asked with a smile.

"I’m looking for a ring," Ja replied, requesting something simple but pretty.

The associate showed him several rings, but Ja was hesitant, unsure if any would look right. After a long time, one ring finally caught his eye. Ja bought it with a huge smile.

"It must be for someone special. You took a lot of time choosing," the associate remarked.

"He is. The most special person to me. I can’t live without him," Ja said.

Ja went to pay but realized he had forgotten his wallet. This was due to his rush because of the intern. He asked the associate to hold the ring and went back to the office. It was raining by the time Ja returned. He went inside his office but noticed a commotion outside.

"What’s going on?!" Ja heard someone shouting. He stepped outside to find the intern holding a knife to his neck.

"What is this?!" Ja exclaimed, approaching the scene. The intern smiled and told everyone that Ja cared about him, which is why Ja had come back.

After 20 minutes, the intern finally dropped the knife, and security quickly apprehended him. Ja was relieved the situation ended swiftly, though he knew he would need to file a report. He went back to his office to work on the report and handle numerous calls from his office phone from his superiors.

A few hours later, Ja received a call and thought it was another call from his superiors, but he was surprised to find it was from Bright.

"Why are you calling?" Ja asked.

"You need to come to the hospital now," Bright said urgently.

"Why? I have a lot of things to do. Stop bothering me," Ja said, rubbing his temples.

"Gulf is your main priority, Ja! Of course, I need to bother you! Gulf is in the hospital because of you! Come here, or I’ll take him far away from you!" Bright’s words made Ja stand up immediately.

Gulf was watching his drama. He had left his old school and was looking for a chance to apply to a new one. However, the doctor advised him to rest for a week before resuming work.

"P... I'm home," Ja said as he appeared at the door, smiling at his boyfriend.

When Gulf saw Ja kneeling and crying, pleading to save their relationship, he was moved and decided to retract his decision about taking a break. He hoped Ja had learned his lesson and would not disappoint him again.

"This is for you, my boyfriend. It's your favorite," Ja said, presenting a bouquet of purple freesia.

Gulf smiled and kissed Ja, thanking him. Ja then asked Gulf to stay still while he cooked dinner. Gulf looked at the flowers and sighed. He didn't particularly like freesia, especially in purple, as it was his mother's favorite flower. He liked it before but after getting kicked out, he did not fond of it. However, Ja had been so sweet to him over the past week.

"I'll cook your favorite dish today, P," Ja said, kissing Gulf on the lips before heading to the kitchen.

Ja had been keeping his promises. He woke up early to make Gulf breakfast, picked him up for lunch dates, and took him for evening walks before cooking dinner. He always surprised Gulf with flowers or chocolates, making him feel as he did when they first started dating.

Gulf went to take a bath before dinner. He noticed the drawer was open and went to close it but was stopped by a small box with a note beside it.

"For my baby,
2.08.2024
Love, Ja"

Gulf was surprised to see the date—it was their 6th anniversary. Was this what he thought it was? He quickly closed the drawer, smiling. Could he be about to become Ja's fiancé instead of just his boyfriend? He hurried to take a shower.

During dinner, Gulf remained quiet, but his heart was filled with anxiousness. Ja continued talking about his work, not hinting at the contents of the box. Unable to stay silent, Gulf asked, "Ja, about next week... do you have anything in mind?"

"Next week? Oh, I forgot to tell you, P..." Ja put down his spoon and fork, taking Gulf's hands. "I have a business trip next week. It may take 10 days. I wanted to tell you earlier, but I was afraid you'd be mad."

"Business trip?" Gulf was confused. Their anniversary was next week, but Ja wouldn't be there? Or was this one of Ja's surprises like before?

Ja remained still, waiting for Gulf's response. Gulf looked up, assured Ja he wasn't angry, and asked him to take care during the trip.

Before Ja left, he had been very considerate. He cooked for Gulf, took him on dates, and agreed to everything Gulf asked.

"I hate to leave. I will miss you tremendously, P," Ja said, pouting as he hugged Gulf in front of the door.

"It's not that long, and you can always call me. I'll be waiting for you here,"
