Two years later,
Bright was waiting for someone at the airport. His face lit up with a wide smile when he saw his best friend, who looked fresh and new. After leaving Kao's apartment, Gulf had stayed in Canada to further his studies in education, which allowed him to become a lecturer rather than just a teacher.
"Bright!" Gulf smiled warmly. Gulf had dyed his hair a brownish color and wore a long earring in his right ear. He had also started wearing glasses.
"Wow, I haven't seen you in a year, and you've changed so much," Bright said, surprised by how different Gulf looked. The new look made him even more attractive.
"Thank you, Bright. I've missed you," Gulf said, hugging Bright. Bright only visited Gulf once in a while because he was busy with his company.
"I've missed you too, Gulf" Bright returned the hug. After that he offered Gulf for lunch but Gulf was tired.
Bright took Gulf to his new apartment. Gulf had worked part-time during his studies and impressed his employer so much that his salary was increased in no time. With a little help from Bright, Gulf was able to buy a penthouse. Bright had told him it was a gift.
"Ugh, so tired," Gulf said as he lay down on his bed. Exhausted from hours of flying, he fell asleep within seconds of his head hitting the pillows.
The next week, Gulf woke up early and got dressed. It was his first day as a lecturer at the university. Although Bright offered to drive him, Gulf insisted on using his motorcycle to adapt more quickly.
"Mr. Gulf?" Someone called out, and Gulf turned around to see the dean of the faculty he was joining. Gulf had chosen accounting as his specialty due to his interest in the field.
"Let me show you around," the dean offered, guiding Gulf until lunchtime. The dean then took Gulf to his office before leaving him to settle in. Since it was past lunchtime, Gulf decided to skip going out and instead reviewed his schedule. Suddenly, there was a knock at the door.
"Mr. Gulf? This is for you," the delivery man said, handing him a paper bag.
"Who sent this?" Gulf asked, peering inside the bag, which contained food and drinks.
"Oh, I'm not sure. But the person said you would know who it was," the delivery man replied before leaving, leaving Gulf puzzled.
Gulf opened the bag and found a note inside.
'Good luck on your first day.'
Gulf raised an eyebrow, trying to guess who it was from. He had a sudden idea and texted Bright to thank him. However, Bright replied saying it wasn't from him as he did not know where is Gulf office is.
"Then, who could it be?" Gulf wondered but decided not to dwell on it. Gulf opened the bag and it was Pad Krao Pad with basil and a bottle of warm milk.
After finishing his work late, Gulf left the office to find it dark outside. As he approached his motorcycle, he saw three people surrounding it, trying to take pictures and ride it.
"Excuse me, gentlemen," Gulf said with a smile, pointing to his motorcycle. The men looked at him and laughed.
"No way this is your motorcycle! You look like those spoiled rich kid" they said, but their laughter stopped when Gulf showed his keys.
Suddenly, one of the men stepped forward, trying to intimidate him.
"Maybe you could give us the keys," the others smirked, understanding what their friend was suggesting.
"No," Gulf replied firmly, shoving the keys into his pocket.
"Give them to us!" one of the men demanded, trying to snatch the keys. Gulf sidestepped, causing the man to fall.
"You bastard!" another man shouted, throwing a punch. Gulf dodged it, slapped the man's hand away, and then kicked him in the shin, causing him to cry out in pain.
The third man charged at Gulf, but he was kicked in the abdomen and fell. The man who had fallen tried to grab Gulf's feet, but Gulf moved and kicked him in the shin. The three men, now badly hurt, were left writhing in pain.
"Next time, try someone at your level," Gulf said, brushing off his pants before calling security to handle the situation. He then headed home.
During his time in Canada, Gulf had learned some martial arts for self-defense. Now that he was alone, he needed to take care of himself.
"Ugh, so tired," Gulf said, collapsing onto the couch. He looked at a bracelet on his wrist, caressing it with a smile. He wore the same bracelet for two years and never removed the bracelet from his wrist.
"Maybe it does bring me luck" Gulf chuckled. Gulf has a lot of challenges but he always received help from his surrounding making him think that the bracelet does bring him luck.
However, he made a promise to himself that he wil start a new chapter after coming back to Thailand.
"I'm here, Khun. I've moved on, but to fully close this chapter, I need to let go of everything related to Ja, even if that is you." Gulf opened the bracelet for the first time in two years and placed it in a box.
"Goodbye, Khun."
