Kao nervously waited outside the surgery room. He sat down, praying that his love would make it out alive from the surgery.

"Let's just hope for the best," Bright said, patting Kao's shoulder, and Kao nodded in response.

Bright stood up and leaned against the wall beside Kao's assistant. He stole a glance and saw the younger man was nervous for his boss's lover. Bright placed his hand on the younger man's back, surprising him.

"Sir..." the man slowly called out, making Bright smile.

"You should stay calm at this moment so your boss can lean on you," Bright advised, making the man nod and relax.

After the advice, Bright intended to pull back his hand but decided to leave it there. Kao closed his eyes tightly, waiting for almost two hours before the doctor came out.

"Doctor, how is my boyfriend?" Kao stood up abruptly, almost begging the doctor for news.

"I am happy to announce that the surgery was successful, but we need to monitor his progress later on. We will transfer Mr. Gulf to his ward, and you are allowed to visit him, but only one person at a time, please," the doctor responded, making Kao sit in relief. All his prayers had been answered, and all he could think about was his love's condition.

Kao's assistant finally breathed properly and sighed in relief. That was when he realized Kao hadn't eaten or drunk anything since morning, and now it was almost 2 p.m.

"Sir, please take a rest after this. I will get food and drinks for you," the assistant said as he went to the cafeteria after receiving a response from Kao.

Bright stayed still, leaning against the wall, but his eyes never left the younger man, who didn’t even spare a glance at him. He glared at Kao a bit when he realized all the attention was on him.

"You can stop glaring at me. He is just doing his job," Kao said, gathering himself before they brought Gulf out.

"I didn't say anything," Bright shrugged, raising an eyebrow at Kao. He sat down next to him and placed his hand on Kao's back, offering comfort.

"Your eyes said everything, Bright. I’m fine here, so you should do what you want," Kao said, looking at Bright knowingly.

"Urgh, fine. This means you give me your permission, okay? I’ll come visit next time. Tell Gulf when he wakes up that I’m glad the surgery was successful," Bright stood up and smiled.

Kao's assistant stood in the cafeteria waiting for Kao's food when someone stood beside him, making the younger look to the side.

"Mr. Bright. What are you doing here?" The younger bowed and looked ahead after asking.

Bright noticed the younger never looked at him, even while asking. He purposely didn’t answer, but this didn’t seem to bother the younger so Bright clicked his tongue. The man finally noticed Bright's intention.

"Is there anything I can help you with, sir?" the younger asked, his eyes on the menu, deciding what to order for Kao's drink.

Bright furrowed his eyebrows at the scene, clicking his tongue again in annoyance. The younger remained unfazed, still looking at the menu. When he decided, he moved forward to order, but Bright stood in front of him, surprising the younger.

"Yes, Mr. Bright?" the younger said, showing a polite smile.

"Just call me Bright," he said, flashing a charming smile, expecting the younger to show some real emotion, but the man remained flat.

"I’d rather not, sir. You are my boss’s business partner, so I can’t be rude," the younger replied, bowing and going to order drinks for Kao.

"Then you should know it’s rude to deny my request," Bright said, flashing another smile, but the younger stayed silent.

Kao's assistant could only nod, unsure why the older man kept bothering him in recent days. When the food and drinks were ready, the younger took them and left, but Bright stood in front of him again.

"You know... I told you before that I love my work more than Gulf, but I’ve changed my mind," Bright said suddenly, making the younger furrow his eyebrows.

Does that mean Bright loves Gulf more than his work now? This could be a threat to Kao and Gulf's relationship. The younger looked straight into Bright's eyes, his expression demanding an answer, making the older chuckle. Finally, Bright got his attention, and he liked it.

"I like being with you better than my work, Win," Bright smirked, making the younger's eyes widen.

"You..." Win was shocked to hear his name from Bright. Suddenly, his cheeks felt warm.

Bright was surprised to see Win blushing for the first time. He looked so cute, different from his usual stern self.

"I... I should go," Win said, immediately leaving the stunned Bright alone.

Bright received a call and accepted it without looking. His assistant informed him that they had a meeting within an hour.

"Cancel the meeting. I have something else to do," Bright said, then proceeded to catch up with Win.

---

Kao had just finished washing his face and went beside Gulf. He kissed Gulf's forehead when someone knocked on the door.

"First? What are you doing here?" Kao asked, stepping outside and closing the door behind him.

"Is the surgery successful?" First asked nervously.

"Yes, it was. The doctor said they will monitor his progress later and hope he can regain his sight," Kao smiled, making First sigh in relief.

"P'Ja must be happy after hearing this," First said, smiling, which made Kao smile back.

"Please tell my son... thank you for his eyes. It makes Gulf able to see again."
