POV:
She glanced around her, no guards appeared to have been following her. No maids in the area either. She slunk over to Daniel's office door, just hoping that Will wasn't tired to the point of coming home early or even wanting to just hang around home.
She gently knocked on the door just in case, If anyone had asked she would just be looking for a book. He had a decent amount of books for work in there, it was easy for others to buy it, she had hoped.
Katie didn't hear anything and slid in, looking around. She had been in here before, but truly never really looked around. In some ways, it looked like the office of a proud father, Will's drawings where all around. Some framed, some draped on his desk. She decided to help clean them up a bit, she was his fiance it should be ok.
Tidying up the papers, she kept an eye on the headings, just to make sure she didn't miss anything, file anything in the wrong pile, or even read something she knew for a fact she wasn't supposed too. she knew what she was looking for, just not its title and such. She first grabbed a boatload of Will's drawings, now wondering if the little guy spent time in here.
Now that she thought about it, why hasn't she really spent time in here? She thought about it, she needed too spend more time with her family. Since being free from her captors, so to speak, she had been out and about more frequently.
Was she a bad mother for not spending time with them both?
That thought practically plagued her mind. She shook her head and tried to think of something else, anything else.
The drawings.
She decided to look through them, see what he was up to. A lot of them looked like animals. Cows, pigs, cats, that sort of thing. Until one drawing caught her attention, it seemed to be at the bottom of the pile that was draped over the desk.
2 wolfs....they looked just like her and Daniel! Attention to detail was incredible. She kept going through and noticed one that flew out. It was a picture of Daniel' suit for the wedding, or so she had assumed.
She decided to leave that on top. Once that was taken care of, she then started to file the other stuff as best she could.
"Lets see," she started.
"Paper reguarding the kingdom, policies, couple of prisoners.....where is it?" She questioned. This was getting on her nerves now. she wanted to find it, she just had too, her curiosity just wouldn't let her be unless she did.
But nothing.
Taking a huge sigh she looked around. At least everything was organized to the best of her ability. The office looked a bit more put together, she just hoped Daniel wouldn't be too upset.
She knew how some people where organized through disorganization. She then walked back to where her dress was. She needed to do something to keep her mind occupied, anything.
She started to work on the bodace, hoping that her measurments where right.
"Ouch," She said, bringing her finger to her mouth, thinking that sucking it would take away the pain.
"What was going on through your mind to do that?" A female voice said behind her.
Turning around, she saw Lady Arnand, or more commonly nown as the palace seamstress. The stern look on her face still present. Katie looked away and tried to get back to work on the bodace, but due to her mind being elseware, she just couldn't do anything right without stabbing her fingers again and again.
"Allow me," Lady Arnand said coming up and taking the sewing needle from Katies hand. Katie nodded, feeling a bit ashamed. Lady Arnand started working on it, reading the pattern flawlessy and stitching it with accuracy.
Katie grabbed her one arm and had a look of being ashamed, Lady Arnand noticed this.
'I suppose I should try to talk to her and understand. she will be my new Queen soon enough, hasn't caused trouble' she thought
"Is there something wrong, My Lady?" She asked.
"I owe you an apology," Katie told her. The woman stopped and turned towards Katie. Definatly not expecting that answer.
"My Lady?" She questioned.
"I wanted to work on it myself. My son had designed this and I thought since I was so used to mending and stitching that I could do it myself. I can read the patterns and stitch correctly, but not when I already have so much on my mind, I want to apologize," she said.
Lady Arnand looked very confused, this was not the queen-to-be that she thought she would be serving. She had heard the stories and thought to herself that this girl would abuse now that she had power. She could now see that this was a girl who didn't know how to ask for help or to see that there was people to help.
Katie felt her wolf trying to comfort her as she stood there, admitting her fault. Her mind was too preoccupied since she heard Daniel and since she went into the office, couldn't find anything, and had thoughts of being a bad mother.
"I owe you an apology too," a voice said. Katie looked up at the woman, who was now bowing her head. Katie and her wolf where confused.
"I thought that since you where a country bumpkin that you would abuse your power over all of us, spend for riches and such," she said.
"I was wrong. We ignored and scowled at you, to try and prove that we were strong and could handle whatever was thrown at us. I didn't mean to, and will accept my punishment," she said.
Katie could see her clutching her skirts, ready for anything that would come from Katie.
"In truth, I don't blame you," Katie said. Lady Arnand looked up and gave her the same perplexed look as before.
"I am pretty much a nobody coming into the palace, turning into a queen soon. I know nothing about this life and you have all see so much more of nobility than me, I don't blame you," She said.
Lady Arnand looked back down.
"Please punish me," she said. Katie could hear the pride in her voice.
"I can't do that. I am just as much at fault," she said. Looking at each others eyes, Katie turned to look at things.
"I would like some help with my dress, if you and the others wouldn't mind," Katie said. She grasped her arm again. Lady Arnand smiled and went over to ring a bell.
Before long 5 more women came into the room and looked as sharp as ever. Katie could see the way they looked at her. She started to cower.
"Now, now ladies. We are here to help the queen-to-be with her gown," Lady Arnand said. The women looked at her, seeing the difference in her approach towards Katie. Noticing this, they decided to change their tune towards her.
If Lady Arnand was acting this way, she must have noticed or done something to make her accept. Katie looked up and the women looked more eager to help.
She watched as they all came forward, but saw the look in their eyes, and knew she was gonna be here for awhile.
