Chapter 20

Daniel POV:
I reached the hospital maybe a bit too late. The cops where there. And questioning everyone. Panic washed over me. I raced to the door and looked all around.

Everything looked fine. I stopped and looked at a chair and found Dr.Oland sitting in a chair with her head in her hands. Nick rubbing her back to try and calm her down. She looked up and looked over at me. Her eyes where bloodshot from all the crying she was doing.

I raced over to her and kneeled by her. She just kept sobbing and sobbing and shaking her head. "Im sorry,Im sorry," she kept saying. I froze and looked at Nick. He shook his head. She was gone.

I moved my head over towards a section of thw hospital where we wouldnt be heard. He nodded his head and rubbed his mothers back a bit.

When we met up, I tried to keep my cool."What happened? And why does your mom keep saying she is sorry?" I asked him.

"My mom doesnt know what happened. She took some medicine, cause it has been hectic over the past few days since you found your mate and a lot of she wolfs show up asking to see her. Yeah, not good. Anyway,she went to check on her before closing up. Then she smelled a scent that didnt belong. She ran as fast as she could but when she got there,Katie was gone. Out of her bed and the window was wide open. She called everybody and has been sobbing ever since. Please dont punish her,dude," he asked after explaining everything.

And it did make sense. I wont harm her,she is a great doctor and she did everything by the book,so she wont be punished by anyway. I nodded my head and ran out the door and out back to right about under her window.

I shifted and Jason started sniffing around,and then I caught it,mixed with another wolfs. Theirs was stronger then hers,so either she ran or she was knocked out.

'Its faint. I hope our mate isnt hurt,'Jason said.

'I hope so,' i replied and ran after the trail of the scent. It lead to a road,then her scent became faded,but the other wolfs scent wasnt there. We paced back and forth. There was no way I could find her like this.

'We need reinforcements, ' i told Jason. He whined.'come on. The more people we have looking for her the better,' I reminded him. He agreed,but I could tell he didnt want to leave her scent. Especially since its this faded.

I ran back to the castle woods and hoped my father was willing to help make this not a pandemic.
'Nick,Zach,meet me by my bedroom door,' I told them.

'Got it,dude,'Zach said immediately.

'Ok,just let me help my mom relax a bit more,' Nick asked.

'Ok,' I told them. I raced off as fast as I could. I remembered where i last smelled her,i knew she was heading north,why I have no idea. I just hope her scent was still there when I got back.

I charged in the castle and raced past Anica and my father. "Daniel?! Daniel," my father screamed after me. But I just ran to my room. I was going to find her.

I got dressed and raced downstairs to my father's office. He sat there and Zack and Nick stood behind other chairs. I sat in one chair and folded my hands.

"You mind telling me why you nearly ran me and a girl who is like your sister over? "He asked.

"She is on the run," i said.

"Who?"he asked

"Katie. Someone is after her. Not sure who. But someone is. I want to go out and look for her. She was heading north," i said. My fathers mouth just hung open. He closed it and nodded his head,understanding.

"Very well. And I asume you boys will be keeping my son company?" He asked Zach and Nick. They both shook their heads. He nodded his head again.

"Very well,pack tonight and get some rest. You leave in the morning," he said and shooed us away. I wanted to leave now,but I knew better then to argue with my father.
I raced up the stairs and grabbed a suit case and stuffed it with clothes shoes and the mask. To keep her scent still alive in my heart.

I placed it by my bed. I paced by the window and walked out to get some fresh air. I intook a lot of air and qondered why she had taken off.

I bent my head down and looked down at the gardens below. I saw the fountain where I first cried in front of her. I smiled a bit. I then felt something pulling on my shirt i was going to swat it away,then I smelled her. My mate. I turned around,only to find a dove with a note in its beak. I snatched it away, and opened it. It had a long lasting scent. It was her scent. I took in a big wiff and looked as the dove flew out.

I looked down and read the note and what it said,nearly broke my heart.

Dear Danny,

Im sorry I left the hospital at such short notice and that i didnt tell you where I am now. But Lily is still weak from the blood lose and the fight,so i couldnt mind link you.
Im sorry about that. But please dont look for me though. Anna is looking for me and I cant have you getting hurt. She sent a man to come and take me away. I smelled his scent before he came in the room and i jumped out the window. Please dont blame Dr.Oland. she is a nice doctor. I love you,I really do,but please dont look for me. I am well cared for by some old friends up north. Its a little cold up here,but its beautiful with all the snow.
Please forgive me and I hope to see you in the future.

I felt tears form and i just collapsed to my knees. She was gone and she didnt want me to find her. But i will find her. No matter how much she doesnt want me to.

And one way to find her is by talking to Ava to see what she knows. They will all hate the day they ever separated us.
