After dinner, I found Elena engrossed in a conversation with Sophie. She looked happy, laughing and chatting freely, but a pang of jealousy hit me. Sophie was her best friend, and I knew they had a special bond, but I couldn’t help feeling envious that Sophie was getting more of Elena's time than I was.

Deciding not to intrude on their time together, I figured I could use the opportunity to get some work done. Since Elena was occupied, I called Marco and asked him to gather more details on the situation with the Mexicans. I left the house and headed over to Marco’s place so we could discuss everything in detail.

We were deep into work when my phone rang. Seeing Elena’s name on the screen, a wave of concern washed over me. I picked up immediately.

“Yes, Elena, everything okay?” I asked, trying to keep my voice calm.

“Yes, everything is good, Enzo,” she replied, her voice slightly hesitant. “Actually…” She paused for a moment before continuing. “Sophie and I were thinking of going to a club. Can we please go? Don’t say no,” she added, her tone almost pleading.

A smile tugged at my lips. Elena sounded so sweet and adorable, asking for my permission like that. As much as I didn’t want her to go, I knew I couldn’t keep her from enjoying herself. I didn’t want her to feel trapped or controlled.

“Yes, you can go, Elena, but my men will be with you,” I replied firmly, making it clear that this wasn’t up for debate.

She tried to argue, but I cut her off. “There’s no point in arguing. They will be with you, and that’s an order.”

She hung up with an irritated huff, and I couldn’t help but chuckle at her stubbornness.

Marco glanced up from his work and smirked. “You’re behaving like her husband already.”

I shot him a look, though I couldn’t help the small grin that crept onto my face. “No need to tease me, Marco. She’s mine, and I’ll wife her up soon enough.”

Marco chuckled, shaking his head as we returned to our work, but my mind was still on Elena, hoping she’d enjoy herself tonight while also wishing I was there with her.

As I finished my work, I left Marco's house, feeling somewhat accomplished but eager to get back to Elena. My thoughts were on her the entire drive home. I wanted to see her, hold her, and maybe even steal a few moments alone together before the night ended.

But as I was driving back, my phone rang again. It was Elena. A wave of concern rushed over me—this was the second time she was calling tonight. I picked up immediately.

Before I could even say anything, she blurted out, “Enzo, why did you send your men with me? No one is approaching me now!”

I could tell right away that she was tipsy. Her words were slurred, and the frustration in her voice was clear. I let out a quiet sigh, trying to keep my patience.
