I took a slow drag of smoke, letting it burn as I exhaled, my gaze fixed somewhere far beyond the room. The drink in my hand felt heavy, matching the weight pressing on my chest. She was angry with me-angry with every mistake I'd made, every secret I'd kept.

Marco stood nearby, watching me with that familiar look of concern and exasperation. After a moment, he broke the silence. "Enzo, you know she's like a little sister to me. If she ever wanted me to knock some sense into you, I'd do it."

A small, humorless smile tugged at the corner of my mouth. "Yeah, I know, Marco. I know I messed up... She was already furious over that stalking crap, and now this." I took another drag, exhaling slowly. "I've really pushed her this time."

"Think she'll leave you?" Marco asked, his gaze steady.

I let out a low, humorless laugh. "Not a chance. If she tries, I can't let her go. She's mine, Marco. I'll give her space, time, whatever she needs. But I'll wait forever if I have to-she's not going anywhere."

Marco raised an eyebrow. "And what if hypothetically she wants to be with someone else?"

I ground out the cigarette under my heel, my voice turning hard. "Then I'll kill him. No one touches her. No one even gets near her."

Marco sighed, leaning back with a shake of his head. "You're obsessed, Enzo. But you do love her-try to win her back with love this time, not stubbornness or control."

A smile crept across my face, surprising even me. "Yeah, I know, man. I've actually changed... because of her."

Marco nodded, closing his eyes briefly, taking a deep breath. "Good. She deserves that."

After a pause, I looked at him. "You still miss her?" I asked quietly.

Marco gave a small laugh, glancing upward. "I don't know. Maybe. But it's been years... she's just a ghost now."

I scoffed. "Move on, Marco. She's not coming back."

He looked at me pointedly. "Funny you're saying that, considering you-Mr. Cold-Hearted-are completely wrapped up in Elena. Don't even let anyone breathe near her."

I couldn't help but smirk. "She's right in front of me, Marco. I know everything about her. Every detail."

Before Marco could respond, his phone rang, interrupting the moment. He answered it, his face hardening as he listened. "Alright. Take action if needed." He ended the call, slipping his phone into his pocket with a frown.

"Call Elena," he said urgently, dialing another number on his phone.

I shot him a look. "What? Why?"

"Call her, Enzo. Tell her not to leave wherever she is."

The tension in his voice made my heart hammer. I dialed her number immediately, waiting as the phone rang... and rang.

"Shit, shit, shit," I muttered. "She's not answering." I tried again, each unanswered ring only heightening my dread.
