In a huge solar system once two souls met. She was the sun: big and energetic. He was the moon: little and unnoticed. They were both different than the rest of the planets, so they fell in love.
The moon, who until then used to feel sad, started to shine with the light the sun gave him. He finally felt full instead of empty.
But the sun... She was obviously happy for the moon, and glad to have found company. Yet she didn't get anything in return. Even if the moon shone for her, he could only do so by covering the sun. For him to illuminate the Earth, she would have to hide and lend him her energy. So she started to get tired and feel used. It never was the moon's intention, but she felt alone again. Lonelier than before. Betrayed. Unloved.
One day the sun decided to take distance from the moon. They would take turns. During the day she would illuminate the planet, and at night she'd lend him her light to shine. But they would never work together at the same time again. Because even if they did, there wasn't enough energy for both. She couldn't keep giving him her light while she was working too, only while she was asleep and didn't need it.
They say that then the moon's heart broke. He became empty again. But sometimes, when he remembered the good time he passed with the sun, he shone bright and full again. Like that the lunar cycles were created and a tragic romance story arose.
