SAUMAYA
"Hello Mrs Mehrotra, Dr. Nidhi Chauhan here, please have a seat."
I gave a nervous smile to Doctor Nidhi, the cardiologist in the HealthCare hospital, which is a subsidiary of Mehrotra's group and hospitals.
To say I was anxious the whole day won't be a lie. My heart is feeling this strange thing since yesterday when I got the call from the hospital about this appointment.
Only I know, how I've hid this from everyone, especially Aksh, who I am sure has a doubt on me with the way he was noticing my actions to avoid his eyes in the morning. Thank goodness that he has an important meeting so he went early.
And the fact that I haven't told anyone about this is also burdening my heart, but I just don't wanna scare them for nothing. So, making up an excuse of visiting market, I came to the hospital.
"Uh, doctor is everything okay?" I asked from the Dr. Nidhi, who must be in her late thirties. She gave me an assuring smile and picked up a file and opened it before looking back at me.
"You came alone?" She asked which made me frown but nodded nonetheless. I fidgeted with my fingers in my lap, not at all getting good feeling about it anymore.
"Relax Saumaya, nothing to worry, I was just sent with your blood reports because we found something irregular, and that's why we called you." Doctor explained me making me more confused.
"Irregular, as in?" I asked taking my canine under my teeth in anticipation. C'mon, why the suspense.
"Yeah, but those can entirely be wrong, firstly tell me, do you feel tired lately, like more than normal, or maybe weakness?"
I frowned and I realised it's true. I do am feeling exhausted lately, without even doing much work, and weakness too. Like, the one time during Maa's birthday I wa feeling so weak in the kitchen while preparing food. And then on my exam day too, I was feeling exhausted without even doing any work.
Realising this, I looked at the doctor and nodded my head to which she nodded back and leaned forward to the table.
"Do you usually have abdominal pain or any other different pain?" I shook my head at this as I doesn't feel any such kind of pain. Infact not during my periods, which by God Grace are painless.
Dr. Nidhi again nodded and wrote something in the file and I was getting anxious, and waited for her to finish. After doing whatever she was doing, she looked up and again gave a smile.
"Saumaya, I want you to do some tests, think of it as a routine checkup."
"Tests for what doctor?" I asked confusingly.
