THIRD PERSON'S POV

“Saumaya is hiding something from me.”

Shrey looked at his best friend sitting beside him on the barstool and then stared straight ahead, taking a slow sip of his wine.

“Then ask her.” He shrugged, taking another sip before glancing at his mobile phone, which lay on the counter.

Rudraksh shot him a deadpan look and muttered, “Thanks, genius.”

Shrey simply nodded, causing Rudraksh to sigh. He had been sitting here for an hour, and all his best friend had uttered were a mere twenty words in total.

He sipped his drink, his mind drifting back to the day's events. He had been surprised when he saw his wife at the office, but he was happy too—this was the first time she had ever stepped into their office.

But all that happiness turned into worry when he saw her crying. And when she blamed her hormones for it?

Hah! Like he believed that. He knew his wife better than that. She didn’t cry just because she felt like it. Saumaya only cried when she felt helpless or overwhelmed, after years of conditioning herself to be strong.

There was no chance she cried out of nowhere.

That’s how he knew she was hiding something from him. Something was troubling her, keeping her restless.

It wasn’t that he didn’t trust her, but he couldn’t just sit idly by, waiting for her to tell him what was wrong—especially not after what happened last time. He would be a fool if he did.

But he was upset too. Despite telling her not to hide anything from him, she had chosen to do so again. He couldn’t help but blame himself for that; as a partner, he had failed to make her feel comfortable enough to share even the smallest of worries with him.

The thought was bitter, and he downed the rest of his wine before placing the empty glass on the marble counter.

Looking over at his best friend, who was still staring blankly at his phone, Rudraksh rolled his eyes and snatched the device, causing Shrey to look at him.

“Rudra, give me my phone back,” Shrey exclaimed, a hint of annoyance in his voice.

Rudraksh glanced at the phone and then back at his friend. “So, you can speak more than a single word. Interesting.”

Shrey rolled his eyes, snatching the phone back. “Whose call are you waiting for?” Rudraksh asked, curiosity piqued.

“No one,” Shrey replied with a shrug.

Rudraksh raised an eyebrow, staring at him until Shrey sighed. “Seriously, I’m waiting for no one’s call. Just, uh, a comment or like on social media.”

Rudraksh gave him a weird look before standing up. “Are you going?” Shrey asked, tilting his stool sideways as Rudraksh picked up his coat from the couch.
