CHAPTER TWENTY NINE
"I wouldn't trust her if I were you, Kol." Rebekah stepped up beside her brother and patted his shoulder, "Just like her predecessors, she is a deceitful bitch."
"Coming from the woman that helped Mikael." I countered and Elijah's grip on my waist tightened.
Kol looked towards his sister with disgust, "You helped the man who hunted us down for centuries?"
Klaus stepped forwards with a weary smile. His wounds were healed but blood still stained his shirt and hand. He glanced at me, his gaze soft and I smiled sadly at him. "I have forgiven Rebekah's indiscretions. Mikael is dead and we can all be a family again."
Finn scoffed, "We ceased to be a family the day we died. I can see no reason why I would wish to reconcile with those who kept me in a box for centuries."
"For once, I agree with our older brother." Kol spoke with a sardonic smile, "Now, I find myself rather peckish. Does anyone have any objections to me taking a bite out of that delectable blonde?"
"I have objections!" I informed him with a false smile.
"Emilia is not to be touched by the likes of you." Elijah spoke up and Kol eyed us with mischievous glee.
"But I assume she can be touched by you?" He pouted, looking pointedly at how Elijah gripped my waist, "It is cruel of you to keep such a delicacy for yourself."
"You're not missing out on anything, Kol" Rebekah said as she casually paced around the room, running a hand over the furniture as she walked, "But if you want her blood, have at it. You'd be doing us all a favor if you drained her dry."
"No one is touching Emilia." Klaus hissed in warning before leaning against the table and looking down at the floor dejected.
"I like what you've done with the new place, Nik." Rebekah said before sending a vase crashing into a painting. I flinched at the action and Elijah released his hold on me. He came to stand next to me and placed a comforting hand on my lower back.
"I wanted it to be for all of us." Klaus whispered, "A place we could all call home. A place we could all be a family. None of us would ever have to be alone again."
"Well you're right, none of us will be." Elijah spoke and Klaus looked up at him with misplaced hope.
"You're staying behind." Finn announced.
"What about Emilia?" Klaus whispered looking down at the patterned carpet.
"She'll be coming with me." Elijah answered and I blinked in shock before remembering our plans. Before he had been daggered, we had made plans to leave Mystic Falls together. "I'm sure that Emilia will have no reservations about it after the way you have treated her."
"We're leaving you, Nik. Right after I kill that brunette doppelgänger wench, then you will be alone." Rebekah said coldly and I froze at the mention of my sister, "Always and forever."
Klaus pushed away from the table and looked towards us with renewed cruelty, "If you run, I will hunt all of you down."
"Then you'll become everything you hate." Elijah said, "Our father."
"I'm the hybrid!" Klaus shouted through gritted teeth, "I can't be killed! I have nothing to fear from any of you."
"You will when we have that coffin." Elijah warned and I looked up at him in confusion.
Klaus glared at Elijah, their gazes locked in a relentless battle. It was only broken when the door opened and Elijah swiveled around. Klaus gasped in horror as a woman walked in, her dress older than what Kol and Finn wore. My eyes widened in realisation as I looked at her.
