CHAPTER FORTY NINE

Sat on the sofa, I leant against Rebekah, who wrapped an arm around my shoulder. I still felt extremely fatigued but at least the nausea had disappeared. All the other Mikaelsons were standing, looking down at me with a mixture of anger and concern as I recounted my story for the third time.

"...And then I shoved my necklace in her face and ran." I concluded, my voice hoarse from crying, "I can't believe I lost the necklace you gave me, Elijah!"

Elijah shook his head adamantly, "You are far more important than a necklace. I will be eternally grateful that you were wearing it."

"I loved that necklace." I mumbled sadly, resting my head on Rebekah's shoulder.

"We will buy you a thousand pieces of jewelry to replace it." She whispered soothingly and I shook my head in dismay. The necklace was extremely sentimental to me and nothing could replace it, however, we currently had other things to worry about.

"We need to hunt down Miss Blackwell, if that is even her real name." Klaus announced and I felt Rebekah's body straighten.

"I have already spoken with the director and, with a little persuasion, she sent me the address that they have on file for Miss Blackwell," Elijah began, "It may be a dead end but it will be a good place to start."

"Excellent!" Kol grinned maniacally, "I'll go and grab my knife!"

A look of horror crossed my face as Kol practically skipped out of the room. I eyed the remaining Mikaelson men, who were unfazed by his words. "Is he actually going to get a knife or is he just joking?" I asked reluctantly.

"Kol never jokes about his knife," Klaus informed me with a smirk.

"It is his preferred method or torture." Elijah added disapprovingly.

Standing up, I slowly began to pace the room, trailing my hand over the furniture. I was absolutely exhausted but my body was demanding movement. I took a deep breath in as I stopped by the large window and looked out at the bustling London streets. The clouds were gray, threatening to burst at any moment. Already, people were putting their umbrellas up in preparation.

Despite the eternal chaos that plagued the streets of London, I found it oddly peaceful. After growing up in a small town where everyone knew me, I craved the anonymity that the city brought me. Unfortunately, however, after the events of today, I was craving the familiarity of Mystic Falls. Despite my vendetta against the town, it was still my home.

I missed my aunt so bad that it hurt. Oddly enough, I even found myself longing to see my twin sister again. Despite our many differences, Elena was one of the only people in the world that understood the chaos that came with being a doppelgänger. Unfortunately, I doubted Elena ever wanted to speak to me again. When I instigated my relationship with the Mikaelsons, I lost my sister forever.

"I want to go home," I admitted, reaching up to fiddle with the necklace that no longer resided there. Dropping my hand, I turned around to face them, "I want to go back to Mystic Falls."

Klaus frowned, "But you always hated the chaos that Mystic Falls brought?"

"Well, as it turns out, Mystic Falls isn't the beacon of chaos, I am." I said with a sad smile, "Apparently mayhem follows me wherever I go so I would rather be somewhere familiar. What happened today was ten times scarier because I was in an unfamiliar location and didn't know where to go."

After a moment, Elijah nodded, "Then we will go back to Mystic Falls next week after your performances have concluded."

"Okay," I agreed softly, wrapping my arms around myself.
