Ch43 Trying to make plans for Nikki's birthday

Nar- Tommy answered the phone in a tired voice "Hello."

"Sorry to wake you but do you know what tomorrow is?" Beth says.

"Uh Nikki's birthday. Yeah of course I know. He's my best friend.
Why?" He said still laying in the bed.

"Because I was going to come up there and surprise him. I can't
believe I lost track of the days."

Tommy bolted up from the bed. "Uh-um don't come up here tomorrow."

"Why not?"

Tommy sat on the side of the bed holding his head trying to think of
something. "Because Bob won't let us out of the studio. That's why?"
Hoping she'd take the bait.

"Well how come your at the hotel then?" Tommy's first thought was
shit and Beth's was that Nikki was with someone else. "I'm coming up
there now." She went to hang up but Tommy's started screaming,

"Wait don't hang up. Nikki's on a plane on his way home. Shit. I
wasn't supposed to tell you anything. Why is it I always end up
saying it? Will you act surprised when you get back from your make
over thing with Heather?"

"I thought I was the one that was supposed to surprise him not the
other way around. Where is he staying at tonight?"

"I can't tell you. Just please act surprised."

"Ok but you still haven't told me why he's surprising me and not the
other way around?"

"Because one he wanted to make up for lying about rehab, two because
he had to get out of here before tomorrow because we over heard
Vince talking about slipping Nikki a mickey and dragging him to a
strip club. I know how Nikki is he'll end up getting fucked up
before the nights over he'll end up waking in a strange place
with a stripper."

"True. I'll pretend I don't know nothing. We never talked. Hell I'll
probably wake up in the morning and not remember. Damn I need to see a
doctor about that."

"Don't feel so bad I think some of my memory's going to." Tommy
laughed and hung up.

Beth- "Nichals how does pizza sound?" I said going out to the living room.
He looked up at me and shrugged. I picked up Stormy from her play
area. Angel really lived up to her name because she took to Stormy.

If I was doing something and couldn't see Stormy Angel would bark
and I'd go check on them. Once found Angel tugging on Stormy's shirt
pulling her because she knocked the gate down. That day I picked up
Stormy and put her back in her play area and petted Angel on the
head saying thanks.

Anyway we ordered pizza and I put Stormy in her high chair. After I
feed her I went to the bathroom to take a bath. To relax and to try
to loosen up a little. I went under the water closing my eyes and I
ended up staying under to drown the voices in my head out. I opened
my eyes hearing Angel barking like crazy. I shot up from the
water. "Angel." I waited till the water cleared out of my
ears. "Angel come here girl." I had the door creaked and she slowly
came in nudging the door opened. "What's the matter with you? Do you
want to go out?" She shock her head and slowly laid on the floor
whimpering a little.


Nikki- After I overheard Vince's plan. I knew I had to go home. I
didn't want another slip up and I couldn't believe he wanted to drug
me and take me into hell. Not that I'm complaining its just I really
was trying to stay clean this time. I was tired of the fake shit. I
finally realized that girls mostly slept with me because of A who I
was and B because they were the ones with the drugs.

Instead of going to Heather and Tommy's I took a cab home. When it
pulled up to the house it looked wicked. It was dark and the only
light was from the bedroom that was supposed to be to our bedroom. It
faced the street and stuff. I paid the cab driver and got out of the
cab. I stood there holding my sports bag staring at the house. I
hadn't been back to this house since Doc found me in the bathroom.

I sighed and fished my keys out of my leather jacket. I said a
pray 'God I hope this dog is friendly.' I really didn't trust big
dogs but it did make me feel better they had someone protecting my
family. I had talked Bob into giving us till new years off. So if
anyone wanted to party they could do it without me. All I wanted was
to see my daughter, son and future wife. Still considered her my
wife and anytime anyone said she wasn't I'd freak and go off on them.

Anyway I put my key in the lock and I heard the dog barking from
upstairs. When I opened the door she was sitting at the foot of the
steps. I closed the door as quietly as I could locking it back up. I
pressed a few numbers on the alarm to keep it from going off. It was
right beside the door. I went over to the dog and rubbed her ear
letting her put her wet noise in my hand to smell it.

I heard Beth upstairs yelling "Angel, Angel, come here girl."

"Go on." I said putting my finger to my lips. She ran up the stairs
and I took my jacket off. I spotted the video camera I had in the
living room. I put my jacket on the back of the couch and went up
the steps after I took my boots off. I took them two at a time.

I was shocked to find the nursery nailed shut and the crib in the
master bedroom. I heard water in the bathroom and knew Beth was in
the tub. There was a lamp by the bed. The bed was a nice queen size
water bed with a mirror in the center. On the shelf that was below
the mirror were my glasses, a few small dragons with daggers and a
bottle of pills. I looked at Stormy and seen her hair was now a red
and she reminded me of Pebbles Flintstone.

I had to put my hand over my mouth to keep from crying out. I was
pulled from my thoughts when Angel barked in the bathroom. I walked
in and didn't see Beth. I walked closer to the tub my heart pounding
and see her under the water. Her eyes were opened and she blinked a
few times and came out of the water. I shot out the door while she
wiped the water from her face. I didn't know if she seen me but I
jumped in the closet with Angel hot on my trail. It was a walk in
closet and I stood in there breathing hard and I looked at the dog.

"Does she do that all the time?" She whimpered and laid on the
floor. "Figured as much. Damn it. Think I should scare the living
hell out of her?" She inched to the door a little. "Yeah let's do
that shall we." So I took my clothes off and got in the water bed. I
turned off the lamp and laid there to wait for her naked.


Beth- Sometimes my mind would play tricks on me. Because sometimes
I'd see Nikki's face when I was under the water. I came out of the
water and as usual he wasn't there. I thought I was seeing things.
Angel was gone and I grabbed a towel getting out to dry off. I put
on the Kimono Nikki gave me. I sat at the vanity in the bathroom. It
was a long robe sometimes very comfortable. I tried to braid my hair
but I couldn't reach some of it.

So I got up and grabbed the phone from the bedroom. I turned it on
to call Heather. No answer and finally she picked up. "Heather did I
wake you?" I said walking into the hall. The lamp being off didn't
register in my head because the lights were always going on and off.

"No. I was just trying to get us an appointment. What's up?"

"I realized what tomorrow was and called Tommy but he told me not to
come up. I asked him why and he broke down and told me so I know
that Nikki is on his way here. Could you come over, stay the night
and maybe do a make over ourselves?"

"Uh you made Tom crack huh?"

"Yeah. I thought maybe Tommy didn't want me up there because he was
trying to cover for Nick. Boy was I wrong on that. Um bring...."

"Got it red dye, hair stuff and make up.


Nikki- I laid there under the sheets cursing. I heard her come back
in and put the phone up. I reached out from the blankets and grabbed
her waist. She screamed and I grabbed her waist and pulled her on
the bed. "Got you."

"Jesus Christ Frank you trying to give me a heart attack." She was
lying on top of me but I was under the sheet so she was on top of
them. That was all that separated us. I held her and her nose went
on mine.

"Love you. You know you look very, very sexy in that. See your hair
is longer. Mm god baby I fucking missed you." I rolled her on her
back kissing her. The blanket fell on to her and I felt a draft on
my naked butt. We were kissing and I heard Nichals at the door.
