The early morning sun filtered through the curtains, casting a gentle glow over the room. Russia stirred in bed, slowly waking up to the soft sounds of birds chirping outside. His hand instinctively moved to his abdomen, feeling the slight curve that had begun to form. It was still hard to believe—just a month ago, he and China had discovered that they were going to be parents.
The confirmation from the doctor had been both shocking and exhilarating. The thought of a new life growing inside him was overwhelming, yet it filled Russia with a profound sense of happiness. He couldn't help but smile softly to himself, his hand resting protectively over his stomach.
China, who had been awake for a while, was quietly watching Russia from the other side of the bed. He noticed the peaceful expression on Russia’s face and the way his hand rested on his belly, and his heart swelled with love. Without saying a word, China scooted closer, gently placing his hand over Russia's.
“Morning, love,” China whispered, leaning in to press a soft kiss to Russia's temple.
Russia turned his head to meet China’s gaze, his eyes still sleepy but full of warmth. “Good morning,” he replied, his voice soft.
“How are you feeling today?” China asked, his hand brushing over Russia’s abdomen with care.
Russia sighed contentedly. “Better, I think. The nausea isn’t as bad today.”
Over the past few weeks, Russia had struggled with bouts of morning sickness, a constant reminder of the changes happening within him. While the symptoms had been tough, China had been by his side every step of the way, helping him through the rough moments and offering comfort whenever needed.
China smiled, relieved to hear that Russia was feeling better. “That’s good to hear. I’ve been worried about you.”
“I know,” Russia said with a small laugh. “But you don’t have to worry so much. I’m okay.”
“I can’t help it,” China admitted, his voice full of tenderness. “I just want to make sure you’re comfortable and happy.”
Russia reached out to gently cup China’s cheek, his thumb brushing against the smooth skin. “You’ve been amazing, China. I don’t know how I’d get through this without you.”
China leaned into Russia’s touch, feeling the love in his words. “We’re in this together,” he said softly, his hand moving to intertwine with Russia’s. “And I’ll be here for you every step of the way.”
They lay there for a while, simply enjoying each other’s presence, the quiet morning bringing a sense of calm and peace. But soon, Russia felt the familiar queasiness returning, and he grimaced slightly, his hand moving back to his stomach.
“Do you want to try eating something?” China asked, immediately noticing the change in Russia’s expression.
Russia nodded, knowing that he needed to eat to keep his strength up, even if the idea of food wasn’t particularly appealing at the moment. “Maybe something light.”
China got out of bed and quickly dressed before heading to the kitchen. He prepared a simple breakfast, opting for something bland that he hoped wouldn’t upset Russia’s stomach. As he worked, his mind was filled with thoughts of the future. He couldn’t help but imagine what their child would look like—whether they would have Russia’s eyes or his own smile.
When he returned with a tray of food, Russia was sitting up in bed, propped up by pillows. China set the tray down carefully, offering Russia a reassuring smile as he helped him get comfortable.
Russia picked at the toast and sipped the herbal tea that China had made for him. The warmth of the tea soothed his stomach, and he felt a bit better as he ate. “This is nice,” he said, looking up at China. “Thank you.”
“Anything for you,” China replied, sitting beside him and brushing a stray lock of hair behind Russia’s ear.
They spent the rest of the morning together, talking quietly about their plans for the coming months. They both knew that the pregnancy would progress quickly—six months wasn’t a lot of time, and they wanted to be as prepared as possible. China had already started making arrangements, ensuring that Russia would have everything he needed to stay healthy and comfortable.
As the day went on, Russia found himself growing more tired than usual. The pregnancy was taking a toll on his energy, and he often needed to rest more frequently. China noticed this and gently coaxed him to lie down for a nap in the afternoon.
“I’m not a child, you know,” Russia teased, though he didn’t protest as China helped him settle back into bed.
“I know,” China replied with a chuckle. “But you need to take care of yourself. Our little one needs you to stay strong.”
Russia’s hand moved to his stomach again, and he smiled softly at the thought. “I know,” he murmured. “I just want to be the best parent I can be.”
“And you will be,” China assured him, leaning down to kiss Russia’s forehead. “You already are.”
Russia closed his eyes, feeling safe and loved as he drifted off to sleep. China stayed by his side, watching over him with a heart full of love and anticipation for the life they were creating together.
