Russ and China woke up to the soft light filtering through the curtains. The morning was peaceful, and the air was cool. As they got out of bed, China stretched and smiled at Russ.
"Did you sleep well?" China asked, his voice gentle.
"Yes, I did," Russ replied, yawning slightly. "How about you?", they acted as if nothing happened yesterday.
"Very well, thank you," China said. "I was thinking, there's a traditional Chinese festival in the nearby city today. Would you like to go?"
Russ hesitated. "I don't know, China. I've never been in a festival once before, and I don't have any traditional clothes to wear."
China's eyes twinkled with excitement. "Don't worry about that. I have something perfect for you. It will be a wonderful experience. The festivals are vibrant and full of life. Plus, you could use a break from everything."
Russ considered it for a moment, then nodded. "Alright, let's do it. It sounds like fun."
China clapped his hands. "Great! Let's have breakfast first."
They headed to the kitchen and started preparing breakfast together. Russ made tea while China cooked some traditional Chinese dishes. The kitchen was filled with the delicious aroma of freshly made food.
"What's on the menu today?" Russ asked, peering to see what was China doing.
China smiled. "Just a simple breakfast: congee with pickled vegetables, and some baozi. I think you'll like it."(plz don't judge me for the names XD)
As they worked side by side, their conversation flowed easily.
"Have you always enjoyed cooking?" Russ asked, pouring hot water over the tea leaves.
"Yes," China replied, flipping the baozi in the pan. "It's something that brings me peace and reminds me of home. Plus, sharing food with others is one of my favorite ways to connect.", but little did Russ know that China had never shared with anyone but him.
Russ nodded, appreciating the sentiment. "I feel the same way about baking. It's comforting and brings people together."
They finished preparing breakfast and sat down to eat. The food was delicious, and the atmosphere was relaxed and friendly. After they finished, China got up and went to his room, returning with two sets of traditional Chinese clothes.
China handed a dark blue set to Russ. "Here, try this on. It's a hanfu. It will look great on you."
Russ took the clothes, feeling the smooth fabric. "Thank you, China. It looks beautiful."
China grinned. "Let's get dressed, and then we can head out."
Russ went to his room to change. He carefully put on the hanfu, but struggled a bit with the unfamiliar attire. Just then, China knocked on the door and entered.
"Need some help?" China asked, noticing Russ's struggle.
"Yes, please," Russ admitted, feeling a bit embarrassed.
China stepped forward and helped Russ adjust the layers of the hanfu, tying the sash around his waist securely. He noticed russ's wings and how he covered them, but he didn't push him any further. "There you go. Perfect."
Russ smiled gratefully. "Thank you, China. I feel like I might trip over these layers."
China chuckled. "You'll get used to it. Now, let's do something about your hair. It would look great in a bun."
