3rd person pov:
Russia’s recovery continued to be a grueling ordeal. Each day was a constant struggle, marked by both physical and emotional pain. The device Soviet had placed around his neck was a relentless tormentor, sending shocks whenever Russia faltered or struggled. The harsh regimen was designed to push him to his limits, but it often left him feeling broken and defeated.
The initial phase of Russia’s treatment involved a series of rigorous medical procedures. As he lay on the sterile examination table, the team of doctors began their work on his damaged wings. Each movement was precise, their hands steady as they examined the injuries and prepared for the necessary repairs. The wings, a symbol of Russia’s strength and freedom, were now fragile and in need of extensive care.
Soviet stood nearby, his presence a constant, imposing force. His earlier efforts to show tenderness seemed to have been replaced by a more detached and authoritative demeanor. He watched intently as the medical staff worked, his face a mask of cold determination. The days of harsh treatment and emotional detachment had taken a toll on the dynamic between father and son, creating a chasm of mistrust and fear.
As the doctors worked on Russia’s wings, the pain was almost unbearable. Each touch and adjustment seemed to send jolts of agony through his body. The procedures were necessary, but the discomfort was overwhelming. In the midst of the pain, Russia’s grip on Soviet’s arm became a lifeline, a desperate attempt to anchor himself amidst the torment.
His fingers clung to Soviet’s arm with a vice-like grip, the pressure causing Soviet to flinch in response. “Papa,” Russia whispered through gritted teeth, his voice strained. “I’m so sorry. I didn’t mean to hurt you.”
Soviet’s face contorted with a mixture of pain and frustration. He attempted to withdraw his arm, but Russia’s grip was insistent. “Hold on,” Soviet said sharply, though his voice held a note of reluctance. “We need to finish this.”
The doctor paused, casting a concerned glance at Soviet. “Should we continue, or is it too much for him?”
Soviet’s eyes met the doctor’s, his expression hardening. “Continue,” he commanded. “He needs to endure this.”
With a resigned nod, the doctor resumed the procedure. Russia’s pain was palpable, and he continued to cling tightly to Soviet’s arm. The discomfort of the treatment was immense, but the presence of his father, despite the harshness, provided a small measure of comfort. Soviet, noticing his son’s distress, allowed Russia to settle onto his lap, facing him. The intimate position provided a momentary reprieve as the procedure continued.
As the medical staff worked, Soviet’s presence provided a rare moment of solace. His large hands, though firm, offered a semblance of reassurance as he held Russia in place. The physical contact, though limited, was a stark contrast to the harshness that had characterized their relationship in recent times. Russia, despite the pain, found a fleeting sense of comfort in the proximity of his father.
With the procedure completed, the medical staff left the room, leaving Soviet and Russia alone. The father’s stern demeanor softened slightly as he looked at his son. “You did well today,” Soviet said, his voice lacking its usual edge. “We’ll get through this.”
Russia’s eyes were filled with a mixture of exhaustion and gratitude. “Thank you, Papa,” he murmured. “I know it’s hard, but I’m trying.”
Soviet’s response was a simple nod. “Just keep trying. It will get better.”
