Daniel woke up one day with an itch to meet Yune again. It was a week after their first date, presently, it was February 24, and he was bored. So, he decided to visit her again, and when he went to her apartment, she answered the door.
"Oh! Daniel! Good morning!" Yune greeted Daniel.
"Good morning!" Daniel replied, before his happiness turned to curiosity. "Um... any reason you're in a pink dress? At home?"
"Oh, you didn't hear? There's a dancing competition coming up in school on March 10," Yune answered. "I'm practicing for it. The top reward is having the next 2 days off from school, adding it to your weekend!"
As she talks to Daniel, she is called by her mother into the kitchen, Yune invites Daniel inside. After a small informant conversation, Yune walks back into the living room and sits next to Daniel.
"Say... Do you want to join me as a duo?" Yune inquired to Daniel, hoping to hear "yes".
"That's allowed?" Daniel asked.
Yune chuckled lightly. "Of course it's allowed, silly! I wouldn't ask you otherwise."
Daniel chuckled lightly in response, a tinge of pink clouding his cheeks. "Yeah, that's fair. And yes, I'll join you."
The two start practicing, using their regular way of dance - taking a complicated dance, and making it unique in a way that makes it more impressive. They practiced as many days as they could, until March 10 came around. The principal - Principal Vincent - of the Junior High School stated the rules at the gymnasium, the site of the competition.
"Good morning, everyone! Those who are here already know the award that comes from this competition. As per registration, there are a total of 200 participant duos or solo dancers. Each dance as you know may only last 2 minutes at most, if you go over your time limit, you are disqualified." Principal Vincent announced before continuing. "We have 5 special dance judges to rate your performances, each judge will give a rating of 1-100 out of 100. Giving you a total of 5-500 out of 500 from every judge combined. Those with the top 3 highest scores will receive Thursday off and the top performance will receive both Thursday and Friday off."
The Judges would go on to randomly choose either solo dancers or duos to perform, some would do well, some wouldn't. Some performances were either copied, or original dances. However, there was a duo who gave an amazing performance, receiving a score of 420/500. This duo was Xavier and Rosalina, who had become closer since Valentine's Day, they were friends with an extremely strong bond and extremely high trust in each other.
Both Yune and Daniel's competitive spirit had risen, as they were both picked to perform, they gave everything they could, they had even improvised on the spot, but the fact one knew what the other was thinking just by the look in their eyes was a clear sign of their unbreakable relationship. They had fun and ended their performance with exactly no time to spare, the accuracy, unique performance, and the vibrant and elegant style of dancing they had easily captured the hearts of the Judges. When they had finished, the judges gave their score, according to the judges, the only thing that stopped them from a perfect score was their ability to improvise wasn't very refined. Sure, one could respond easily to what the other would do, but they could still expand on it. Yune and Daniel took these as notes for the future and stepped off the stage.
After the announcements, the duos of Xavier and Rosalina & Yune and Daniel had tied. each pair with a score of 420/500. The closest to those two duos was a solo dancer with a score of 345/500, as these 2 were tied, both duos got Thursday and Friday, meanwhile the other 2 runners-up had Thursday off.
As the two duos who had earned first place were relaxing in the cafeteria, they were talking about the dance each pair did and how they were amazed by such outstanding performances. While they were talking, Xavier let's all three of them in on an event that was going to happen tomorrow during their free day.
"Hey, did you know? Apparently, joining of clubs begins tomorrow, want to go with me to see what clubs we can find?"
Daniel, Yune, and Rosalina were intrigued by the offer, their interests piqued. Thinking of what club they could find in such a prestigious school, they accept his offer and after the school day ended, they await the next day, ready to explore and search for clubs that might pique their interest.
