Here, we will look back at one of our characters' past, the girl who wants others to perceive her as tough, the girl known as Rosalina Hope. She had an awful early childhood in USA, experiencing things no child should ever have to experience and pain no child should want to or ever endure.
Our story begins before she is even born. A famous actress and a famous director once got together, they dearly loved each other and gave birth to a girl, a girl known as Rosalina, however, the mother left very soon after. The reason is unknown, whether the lack of romance in their relationship or the unintended consequences of a passionate and lustful night, the end result is that the mother left, leaving the father alone with the girl.
The broken-hearted father entered an endless spiral of self-destruction, and all Rosalina could've done was fall victim to his beatings and abuse. As much as she hated it, there was no other place for the girl to go, despite the fact that being homeless may have been better than this hell of a household.
From the young age of 6, the father would say every morning for Rosalina to go to work.
Whenever the father said that, it was an order for the girl to go out and steal some things. The girl would usually go to the neighborhood store, she stole many things, from food and drinks to everyday appliances. Failure to bring supplies home would lead to Rosalina getting beat and yelled at. Thanks to a base the father built for her, she quickly became an expert at stealing, but even when she'd bring back everything they needed, the father would still yell at and beat her.
"WHERE'S THE DAMN MILK?! HOW COULD YOU FORGET THAT?!"
"FORGET THE MILK AGAIN AND YOU'RE DEAD!!"
No matter what she bought back and no matter how much, she would still get beat and yelled at, almost every single day she stole something as she was ordered. The father hated the mother, and therefore, hated Rosalina, the father never uttered her name, even once.
One day, it was the regular, returning from thieving and getting beat, but this time, there were too many times she had "messed up." The father pinned her against the wall and then proceeded to throw her onto the ground, previous injuries prevented Rosalina's attempts to flee before they could even happen. The father grabbed the child's neck and attempted to strangle her despite all that she had done for him.
"Yeah, I'm a piece of garbage... the woman I loved discarded me and left me as a worthless nobody with withered talent. A wretch with nothing going his way..."
"YOU... YOU ARE BELOW THAT... YOU'RE THE FUCKING SCUM THAT WAS SPAWNED FROM ME AND THAT BITCH! YOU'RE SUB-HUMAN!"
"STUPID! INCOMPETENT! PIECE OF WORTHLESS TRASH!"
All Rosalina did in these couple of moments was cry tears of pain, Rosalina endured things that no child should ever endure.
Rosalina longed for chance to escape this life of misery, a life no child should ever have to live through. Her desire for escape and her age grew at the same pace, among the things that she would still steal daily, she pawned off the more valuable things and kept the money to herself. She was hoping to save enough to maybe fly away and start a new life with her family in Canada, who she had heard of through old photos in the wreckage of her home.
She had gained a good amount of money overtime, hitting an amount around $350. When things were just starting to look a little bit better, she had even decided to buy something with the money she had saved on her 11th birthday.
"What should I get... a treat? No, I want something that lasts...)"
"Something decently cheap and high quality, something that lasts and something I can dedicate myself to..."
