Christmas Eve is the night all kids look forward to, and that is because they know once they go to sleep Santa's going to come and leave tons of gifts for them. But in my household, this Eve is just another occasion for my parents to organize a fancy dinner and invite over some people and discuss business, all I have to do is act pretty.
Not very festive if you ask me just another business dinner, the only festive thing about this night is the Christmas decorations, which are gold and white, very plain, and not as festive as they should be.
Tonight the Moore Family is coming over for the Christmas dinner we organized, James is already over getting ready with me, but I could sense that he wasn't feeling well, I might have asked him a couple of times about it but he always brushed it off and continued getting ready. He was zoning out a lot, especially in the first half an hour, he would stand staring into space for a minute before blinking and going back to what he was doing.
"Babe," I asked
"Mhmm?" He hummed not looking at me but at himself in the mirror.
"Are you okay?"
"I told you a hundred times already that YES, I am" he spoke sounding frustrated.
"You are not" I argued back, "and don't yell at me when I'm trying to help, you always help me, let me do the same for you."
He opened his mouth to speak but closed it before sitting on the bed and rubbing his face.
"What is it?" I asked sitting down on the bed next to him holding his hand.
"I don't know, I was happy a couple of hours ago but now I feel like the world's going to collapse on me." He admitted dropping his head gently on my shoulder.
I looked into his eyes feeling worried. I sat on my knees and hugged his neck,
"What can I do?" I asked
"Just stay right here." He spoke his voice so low, you could barely hear his words.
"Okay, you don't want to talk about it?"
He broke the hug but kept holding my waist gently "There is nothing to say actually, my mood just dropped."
He squeezed my waist and laid his head on me again before saying " I will be okay again, I just don't know when." His words sounded so sad, that I unconsciously tightened the hug breathing into his neck.
Dinner was in an hour and we both were sitting in bed far away from ready.
"You want to put some music on?" I asked, "Maybe that will boost your mood again?" He only nodded his head leaving my arm free so I could grab my phone.
I turned the Bluetooth on and connected my Spotify to Alexa.
I started my playlist on shuffle and music started playing, Christmas songs included!
"I will continue getting ready, you think you will be able to go down to dinner?" I asked him but he groaned when I left the bed where we were cuddling.
"Come back." He said stretching.
"I need to get ready," I exclaimed smiling.
He smiled a little bit but then his eyes closed and he sighed.
"I will have to go down to dinner eventually, I will take my medicine in half an hour so they can be effective and last the night."
I nodded my head taking the curly iron and twisting my hair around it when I heard the bed squeaking.
" Can I do your hair? That way you can do your makeup at the same time and finish faster." He said standing behind me.
"You know how to use this?" I asked holding the Hot iron in my hand.
