"Izzy, what the hell? This is the third drink you've messed up today! Wake up and do your job!" Isabella's boss said to her. After getting back from the airport, doing all of the chores that needed to be done, plus her night routine, she was only able to get five hours of sleep before she had to open at the coffee shop.
"I'm sorry. I'm still kind of jet-"
"I don't care! You've had a month long break from here. Step it up, or you'll be fired." her boss boss (the owner) said. Isabella took a deep breath before returning back to making the coffees. It was busy for most of the day until an hour before closing time. Isabella finished her work a minute before she needed to clock out to get to her other job.
"I need to get to my other job. Anything you need me to do before I go?" Isabella asked her coworker. Jill, the coworker, shook her head 'no', so Isabella clocked out and left to her other job. It was a Tuesday, so she didn't think it would be busy at the pizza place she worked at. She was right, and it was so slow that she was able to leave half an hour early. When she got home, she made some soup before she fed the cats and horses and gave them some water. She did the rest of her chores before she messaged Kelsey a good night message and fell asleep.
The next morning, Isabella woke up late and only had five minutes to get ready before she needed to leave to get to the coffee shop. She quickly got up and did her entire morning routine and got dressed within the five minutes. She left her house and drove to the coffee shop. She noticed the opener wasn't there, so she had to unlock the door and quickly do the openers job before unlocking the front door and turn on the open sign. She still had a lot to do, and she was going to be the only one there for an hour until the other workers come in. She thought it was weird that the opener didn't come in, so she checked the group chat they had. No messages. So she checked the schedule to be sure she wasn't supposed to open. She wasn't, so she messaged the manager to let her know.
It was a really busy morning, and people were getting mad that they had to wait. She had to take orders, answer the phone, make the drinks, make the food, and also make online orders. When the others came in, they were mad that there was a line to the door and orders backed up. Around lunch time, things began to settle down. Then Isabella saw her ex girlfriend walk in. "Hey Izzy." she said.
"What do you want, JJ?" Isabella asked.
"That's no way to speak to a customer." JJ said.
"You spoke directly to me. If you want to order something, you can go to the counter." Isabella said since she was sweeping the floor.
"You should go with me and some friends to the club tonight." she said.
"No thanks." Isabella said.
"Why not?" JJ asked.
"Because." Isabella said.
"Because isn't an answer."
"Yes it is. Now if you aren't going to order anything, then you need to leave." Isabella said. JJ rolled her eyes and walked up to the counter and ordered a latte and a sandwich. As she was waiting, she sat in a chair facing Isabella and watched her as she worked. Isabella did her best to ignore her. Isabella went to the back and did a few dishes before helping up front making drinks. She wasn't paying attention to the customers. She was just focused on the drinks and calling out the names. That is until there was a Kelsey. She actually looked up this time and saw her standing there with a smile. Isabella immediately smiled and gave her a hug after she handed her the drink.
"What are you doing here?!" Isabella asked, pulling away from the hug.
"You really think I wouldn't be here to celebrate your birthday?" Kelsey asked. Isabella thought about what day it was and realized that it was, in fact, her birthday.
