Isabella's first shift as a rookie was a little intense. Her training officer, Brandi, reminded her of Tim Bradford a little bit, but she was way nicer. With being on the strip, they responded to a lot of drunken disorderly calls, which resulted in a lot of them being trespassed. A couple people were arrested because they both hit someone right before they arrived and also hit both Brandi and Isabella. They responded to two car accidents, and Isabella had to direct traffic while they waited on EMS to arrive on scene at the first one. The second one Isabella and Brandi were the first on scene, and after a couple more officers arrived Brandi walked Isabella through taking pictures of the scene for their report. After they were done at the scene, they were going to go back to the station to eat lunch, but they ended up being dispatched to a call about a guy threatening people with a knife. Due to training, they had to have their guns drawn, but Isabella could tell he was in a mental health crisis. "We have to talk him down." Isabella whispered to Brandi as they kept their eyes on him.
"How good are you at talking people down?" Brandi asked.
"I did well at it in the academy." Isabella said.
"Take it away kid." Brandi said. Isabella took a deep breath and put her gun away.
"I can't imagine what you're going through right now." Isabella started off. It took a while, but eventually she was able to talk the guy down and get him to drop the knife. EMS puts the guy in the back of the ambulance, and Brandi and Isabella follow them to the hospital as it is policy for them to do so until he is either released or goes to a mental health facility.
"You're actually pretty good at that." Brandi said.
"Well when I watch Criminal Minds over and over again, I tend to learn a thing or two from their tactics." Isabella said. That caused Brandi to chuckle.
"You realize that's just a tv show, right?" she said.
"I did pretty well, didn't I? You said so yourself. But, I mean, they do have a retired FBI agent on set working with them on actual tactics they use. At least I'm pretty sure they do, or did." Isabella said.
"You're quite sassy, aren't you?" Brandi asked.
"Just like my sister." Isabella said. After being at the hospital for nearly two hours, it was decided that the guy was going to go to a mental health facility. Brandi and Isabella were able to leave, so Isabella told dispatch that they were going to be out for lunch. They go back to the station and were finally able to eat their lunch. Brandi was asking questions to get to know Isabella and to make things less awkward between them as the first day is always awkward. As they were talking, Kelsey FaceTimed Isabella.
"Hey babe! How's your first day going?" Kelsey asked. Isabella could see that her and her parents were on the road back to California.
"Oh, you know, it's going." Isabella said.
"She's doing great for her first day." Brandi said.
"Who was that?" Kelsey asked. Isabella turned so Kelsey could see Brandi.
"This is my training officer, Brandi. She's like the nice version of Tim Bradford." Isabella said.
"Except I'm married unlike Tim." Brandi said.
"Technically Tim was married in the beginning." Isabella said.
"True. But I've been with the same guy for 15 years, five of those being married to him." Brandi said.
"Okay I guess you do have Tim beat there. Anyway, how's the drive back to California?" Isabella asked.
"It's been okay. We've hit some traffic in LA, but other than that it's been good. Is your nose bleeding?" Kelsey asked. Isabella lightly touched the area of her nose, and it was, indeed, bleeding. She quickly grabbed a tissue and plugged it, tilting her head forward slightly and also pinching the bridge of her nose slightly. "What happened?"
