I look at her in the mirror and say nothing. Nobody is with me in the bathroom, I'm looking at myself.
I don't know why I am this nervous, I wipe my hands at my sides and take a deep breath.
I blame it on my thoughts about back home and decide to ignore them and look at my reflection.
I'm feeling confident today, I've always had this rule; Always dress good cause a good outfit can change your whole mood. I'm wearing all black today, black long-sleeved top, black pants and black heels with my hair half up half down and glasses on. I smile remembering me, Nour and Kira shopping these clothes just days ago for this trip.
I check my reflection one last time and head out for the first meeting with my mentor. Well, it's not the first, but it's the first with him as my mentor.
I knock on the door twice before I hear him say "Come in" from inside. I open the door, he looks up from his spot, standing next to his desk looking over some papers.
His suit jacket is lost now and he has his white shirt's sleeves rolled with his muscular forearm on display.
I look at him and he points to the chair I sat before "Sit, Aurora"
Him and his orders, but I put my thoughts aside and obey because I want this to be successful.
"This is not going to be our only meeting place so choose places you feel comfortable at to meet up for our lessons" he says.
"Oh, I still don't know other places, but if I found one, I'll tell you"
"Good" he nods pushing his hair out of his face.
It looks so soft. I groan internally. Shut up, girl what are you thinking about!
"We'll start with conversation skills; I want you to prepare something from the topics I'll give you and explain it to me" he straightens and gives me some papers.
I look at them, they're all about finance and business also, there's a lot of numbers. I put them on my lap and crack my fingers feeling my hands sweat, great now I'm panicking right in front of a merciless cocky man, perfect.
"What do you want to drink?"
I snap my head looking at him "n-nothing" I stutter, gather your shit, you can't panic in front of him!
He picks up the phone "Can I get coffee and water, please?" he asks and I go back to reading the papers and calming the mess inside me.
After a while a knock on the door interrupts me and I look up to find him go open the door himself and takes the tray from the barman. He closes the door and puts the tray on the table on the other side of the office that has a couch too and pours some water before coming towards me.
My insides do a little flip at the sight of him as he takes the papers from my hands placing the glass of water in my hand instead.
"Drink some water" it's an order as well, but it comes out soft. I drink some to calm my insides.
"The first time is overwhelming, it was for me" he says from his spot next to his desk again, voice gruff, but features softer.
"Which first time?" I mumble,
"All of them" he answers,
He moves towards the chair opposite me and sits bending forward,
"Then, it becomes better every time and we get used to it, we might enjoy it even" he goes on.
I look at the glass in my hands and decide to be honest with him.
"I can't do numbers and business stuff" I tell him, he then stands rounding his desk opening drawers and shuffling through papers. I wince knowing he's looking for my dismissal papers.
