I said them. I said the words I've been fearing to say my whole life that I swore not to let anyone make me say them ever, but I did.
"I love you, Aurora. I am in love with every bit of your soul."
She lets out a strangled breath as tears now flow from her eyes, she looks down and her chin wobbles a bit before whispering.
"No."
No.
I hear it echo all over again.
Nobody will freaking love you because you are a selfish kid who refuses to give up anything for his family. Stay here then, fucking alone to rot. My father yells.
You think you'll get what you want, Omer? It's a pathetic office wake up! My father throws at me disgusted.
You've always been a disappointment! A fucking mistake that I made! My father yells as I show him my drawing of us.
Go inside! Don't let your brothers hear it! Mom pleads.
Mughrabi, it's okay to let lose. Kiss me, babe. This body cannot go to waste. Dareen says.
I love you, babe. I won't ever leave your side. Dareen lies.
I'm still holding her hand against my heart. She pulls it away, but I grasp it not letting it go.
She can't go now. She can later, but not now.
"Look me in the eye and say it." I whisper.
She refuses, I tug on her hand, "Look at me, Aurora."
She still doesn't as she weeps in silence.
"Rory."
I tug on her bringing her to my embrace.
"Dove."
I hold her against my hollow body.
"My love."
She lets out a sob as I kiss her forehead.
"My little girl."
I let our memories flow in front of my eyes.
"I love you." I whisper.
"I love you." My voice shakes,
Fucking pathetic. My father yells.
I close my eyes, "I love you."
It's the last one before she frees herself from my arms, rushing away. Without looking back.
I smile.
My dove broke out of her cage, but she didn't know that it was glass
because it shattered in her escape.
