The worst thing that can happen to a person is watching a loved one get hurt.
Yet, I am witnessing it from afar in slow motion.
I saw Dareen get so close, a scream made its way through my throat and Aurora was into the water.
"NO!" I scream on top of my lungs, "MUGHRABI!"
I haven't completed the word as I call for him to help when I see a flash and he's jumping into the water right after her.
I start to shake as I grab for the rail, "No, no, no, no, what the hell. Please, God!" I sob and Zaira and our friends rush to my side.
My sister, she's been my sister since she set foot in the company. I haven't been more grateful for anything in my life lately, but her. Yet I saw her fall in front of my eyes.
I couldn't think. My mind is screaming and my vision is blurry from my tears as Zaira comforts me, but in vain. I can't stop shaking.
The two of them. Omer and Aurora. My only family beside my mom.
I hear the crew yell as they say, "The lifeboat is stuck."
My knees weaken, "Dionne!" Zaira tries to lift me up, "They can't go, please. Someone do something." I sob.
Screw me for being useless.
The air rushes to my lungs as I see her limp body. I rush to her pushing the crew as I grab for her body from Mughrabi's arms. She passed out.
