35) Omer

Is this how people feel when they get their first kiss?

I look next to me and see her, she's asleep; looking like an angel with her hands under her cheek. We're still in the car and we're already at the apartment complex, but I can't seem to wake her up. She was so exhausted from her panic attack and the past week too.

I reach out smoothing back her hair away from her beautiful face and stare. I stared at her a lot, I stared at some photos, I stared at her working, I stared at her practicing her speeches, I stared at her dancing and I stared at her sleep.

When I looked at her, I knew what love was like. I didn't realize I was falling for her till I saw her struggling for breath; this moment I wanted to give her my breath and my whole life.

I feel something wet fall on my face and I frown. No, this didn't happen for years, this can't happen. I place my fingers on my face to feel it, it is there. I look at her again and lean in to place a kiss on her temple then, I exit the car.

I spin and open her door; carrying her in my arms. She tightens her arms around my neck; burying her face into it. I head towards the elevator then, my apartment. I can't let her stay in the car till Dionne comes home and she doesn't have any purse, I have to get a copy of their card for emergencies.

I enter my place then my bedroom, feeling strange with her in my arms; nobody entered this place, ever.

I place her on the bed, she doesn't even stir. I crouch on the floor next to her; smoothing her hair and feeling her face.

I stay like that for a while, then I stand to give her privacy to sleep, till Dionne arrives.

Two hours passed, and I had already taken a shower and changed also, got my medications; my seizures are getting stronger and more frequent. I'm feeding Knox as I hear the elevator ping.

I head for the door and open it as Dionne jumps, "Shit, Mughrabi you scared me" She narrows her eyes "Where did you go? You didn't attend anything from today's event" She looks down sadly then up at me again, "can you give Ro a day off, she was exhausted and she left too"

"I will" She smiles at me and I hesitate before telling her,

"Dionne, Aroura is at mine" she pulls back eyes wide, "Yes, I wondered where did she get the key, her purse is with me"

She looks at me confused, "Mughrabi, is something the matter?"

I sigh, "Let's get her to bed and go help her out of her clothes then, we'll talk".

She raises her brows, "You'll talk?! Really?"

"Yes, but don't make me regret it" she smiles, "Never!"

I go inside as she follows, I knock on the bedroom, in case she's awake, but none so, I enter to find her as she is, I carry her again heading for their place with Dionne stunned after me.

She opens the door for me and mentions for me to follow her to my dove's room. I enter, it smells like her and it has lots of books. I place her on the bed as Dionne comes in to help her, I'm heading out when Dionne calls, "Mughrabi, can you please help unclasp her necklace; it's stuck I can't get it off".

I try unclasping her necklace as Dionne takes her hand to take off her rings, but she pulls her hand away, "No" she slurs,

"Ro, sweetie let me take your rings off" Dionne replies,

She gives her the other hand awkwardly raising her other fingers and saying, "Not those"

I smile as I say, "Let me, Di" as I take off the rings that are not the fidget ones and leave the room for Dionne to help her.

After a while, Dionne comes to mine to talk, she sits on the couch and sighs saying "She's changed and asleep; safe and sound".

"So, tell me" she says crossing her legs,

"What do you want to know?"

"Anything you want to say"

"Dionne, when did you become thoughtful?"

"When it is serious" she mocks.

I look down and then at her, "I think I'm falling in love with her".

She doesn't react then, she says "You've something sweet?"

I furrow my brows, "I'll look" I stand to get her something.

After she eats a small chocolate, I find she says, "No, I'm not hallucinating" I roll my eyes,

"Dionne, sweet things don't indicate hallucination"

"I know, WHAT?!" she yells.

Her eyes brightened, "Mughrabi, I knew there was something, but what are you saying?"

"You heard me"

"Yes! But I can't get it, how? I mean the girl is a blessing, but you don't fall in love in just a month"

"It was more than that"

"Tell me more"

I tell her the outlines of what happened throughout the past months, except tonight; it's not that I don't want to scream to the world that I had my girl in my arms. But it's her privacy too.

Dionne sits there, shocked and her jaw hangs open more as she puts two and two together.

"So, you having an intern for the first time?" I nod

"And you getting her to live here" I nod again

"And you giving her stuff and providing her everything, fuck; you call her, dove" she struggles and adds, "I knew it when I made you the test of shipping her with Elio!"

"It was a test?" I deadpan

"Yes! She rejected him since day 1"

I smile, "God, you even smile and give reactions. She calls you," she trails off not saying my first name.

"Yes, she does"

"I think you are swimming in love" she says eyes glazed with delight, "I'm so happy right now"

"Look, I chose to tell you, but don't annoy her"

She shakes her head, "I'd never" I nod, "Good".
