"Aurora, it's your turn." Chris says as I take the bottle from Zaira, I flip it in the air and it lands perfectly with a thud.
"Damn, those reflexes." Zaira muses as I wink at her when Aisha gets our attention, "guys, the results. It's out."
I feel my heart beat quicken as all of us scatter around looking for our phones. "Zaira, that's yours!" I call for her above the music giving her the phone.
Tonight, we wanted to have a gathering at a small club because apparently most of the interns are heading back to their countries. Thankfully my closest friends are staying.
"FUCK! I GOT A 75!" Chris yells hugging Aisha, "Dang, boy. You nailed it." she says patting his back.
"Good job, Chrissy!" I call as he high fives me, "What did you do?" he asks.
"Can't find it, yet."
They all get theirs one after the other, but mine is still playing peekaboo with me.
"Ro! Di! I got a 79!" Zaira squeals as she hugs both of us.
We hug and congratulate her as she goes to Crew's side. Now I'm standing here with my phone and Dionne by my side.
"I'm scared." I tell her a she rubs my back, "You'll be the best, I know it."
"Don't be so certain- there it is!"
We both hover over the phone as I scroll to find my name between the 30 interns. "I can't find is, Dionne."
"Wait sweetie, I haven't found it too. Slow down a bit."
"Fuck."
"Ro."
We look at each other and scream hugging each other. "What! What did she get?!" Zaira calls as Dionne ushers me, "Go! Go tell your man! I'll tell her."
I pick my bag and take off running in the streets of London. With heels.
Does this look like a movie? Yeah. But I do not care, cause sometimes our lives are even crazier than movies and mine happens to be one of them.
I reach his doorstep, out of breath actually I'm heaving. I ring the bell and he opens almost at the same time. He was waiting for me too and I say it in one breath,
"I am the top intern in all companies with a 95 on top! AH!" I scream as my legs leave the ground and we're spinning together as his rich laugh fills the hallway.
He lowers me and cups my face as I smile so big my face hurts. "We did it!"
"Yes, we did, my love."
